Obama gloaters
You're showing your true colors and it's not pretty. I can lose with dignity, but you obviously can't win with it.
I addressed this post to those gloating. I never said anything about everyone else. Lala gave a perfect example of what I'm talking about.
Yaya, my reply wasn't to you specifically, but to many of the people commenting, however I admit that I gave up reading after awhile. And as I said, my point was not that it's right (it's not) because others do it, my point was that there are brats on both sides and those brats should not be deemed as an example to apply to the whole side. These are, in both cases isolated individuals and have nothing to do with the views and behavior of the groups.
I'm not a newbie. Far from it. All those points have already been covered in earlier replies. I'm not talking about celebrating. I made that clear. I'm talking about the over-the-top in your face attitude that I find distasteful. Your side won. Be happy and grateful, but don't be insensitive. And just because "they are doing it, too" doesn't make it right.
One, gloating and celebrating (I say that because different examples have been given and some were clearly just celebratory) are different. Those who can't handle people celebrating have their own issues to work out. Did some of you really expect crickets after an election this intense?
Two, there are no more gloaters than bashers. I don't say that to mean that either is okay. My point is, is like with everything else, they are the (very loud) vocal minorities. Not all liberals are gloating and not all conservatives are bashing. And if you think that if no one had gloated that no one would have bashed or posted dramatic, "the us is ruined!" posts then you clearly haven't been on bb very long.
It's sad when people have to gloat about it, like they think they are hurting conservatives' feelings or something lol. It really does show their true character. The ignorance is astounding. This is your country and future and you say "nananana boo boo!" And point fingers. So immature. Sadly, I'm not surprised :(
Show me where I stooped to name calling like you just did. You just proved my point lala. Thanks.
Thanks FanooterHammer. I know how hard it is to admit when you've made a mistake, as I have done it many times myself. I'm sorry if I got overly defensive myself. I am sorry that Romney lost and I appreciate the joy the Obama supporters have in his win.
Yes, you read it wrong. I chose a topic to post about. If you don't like it there is nothing I can do about it. It's my opinion and I stand by it. If I had wanted to post about something else I would have. So here it is. My opinion. Take it or leave it.
Thanks sunshine. I wouldn't have gloated, just been relieved. Much like you are now! Congrats on your win. He had a good campaign and accomplished his goal.
No, yaya. It wouldn't be different if you were an Obama supporter. The very first "Obama is president weeeee let's all party" post I saw I commented and said the post was unnecessary and disrespectful to the opposing side who is understandably disappointed right now! There is no need for it and I am just going to smile to myself and be happy that I got what I wanted! Because you better believe if Romney won and everyone came on here gloating I'd be PISSED!
But I guess maybe I'm one of the few who actually treat others how I'd want to be treated?
Would I be getting the same treatment if I was an Obama supporter asking others to play nice? Is it just because I voted for Romney that I'm not allowed to point out the obvious?
How is that true? Please explain how my pointing out the winning side's tactlessness is just as bad as calling someone the Antichrist?
Instead of hating on one side or the other (there were more than two candidates, in case any of you forgot), why not show some support for your country and stop whining about it? I didn't want Romney to win, but I didn't vote for Obama either. Complaining about who's being more dignified is beyond pointless.
Not the same thing. I will go back to my game analogy. Just because one child is upset it doesn't give the other child the free pass to behave equally badly. And, again, I was only speaking for myself. It's right there in my OP. I have no control over others. I have behaved to the best of my ability in a very upsetting and frustrating situation. I have not seen the same from those gloating over Obama's win. You can't argue with those facts.
Both sides are being immature and annoying (no, not everyone, but it's coming from both sides). Throwing internet pies and bragging is disrespectful to the other side who is understandably disappointed. Saying "We're screwed, get ready for a civil war, I'm not having any more children, I hope he gets assassinated, everyone who voted for Obama is an idiot, etc" is disrespectful to not only the opposing side, but to the President of our country. I don't care if the president shares your views or not. He (no matter who it is) deserves upmost respect imho. Being president is not easy or glamorous. And everyone who thinks any president will "ruin" an entire country in 4-8 years needs to gtf over themselves.
And I specifically posted this for the Obama gloaters. It's right there in the title. If that's not you, then we have no problem.
Still making excuses for your bad behavior. That shows true character. And, no, I don't gloat when I win. What you see is what you get with me. It does not excuse someone because I point out one side. That's a nice way to change focus from the topic at hand, though.
I haven't excused either side for their behavior. Why do you all keep posting as if I have?!? I have not bashed or attacked Obama or his supporters in any way except to point out the rudeness in the gloating posts. I have seen a lot of defensiveness here and I think it's because those people know they did a bad thing and hopefully are feeling a little ashamed. If that makes me "superior" so be it. I will proudly sit on my high horse that is actually sitting pretty low since my side lost.
Being attacked is a poor excuse. Just because "she did it first" doesn't make it right for you to do it. Especially when you are in the position of power with the upper hand. For all the democratic talk of helping each other and supporting those less fortunate, I see a lot of the opposite here today.
You don't like my post, make your own. I stand by my opinion that gloating over a win is tacky and only further separates the two parties.
So being attacked is not an excuse? And you obviously misunderstand me because I'm not justifying anything, in an earlier reply I stated that both sides are equally wrong. But that's the beauty of this app, no one has to be polite or politically correct. Especially when being horrible things are being said about the president and his supporters
And my post is one of the least offensive I've seen.
You think it's "superior" of me to expect common curtesy and dignity?
I have not bashed in any way. And I haven't condoned either sides behavior. But it's not how you lose that counts. It's the kind of winner you are that shows your character. Is this the kind of behavior you teach your children when they win a game? Even if the other child is crying and saying "it's not fair"? Is it still ok for your child to laugh in their face and kick them while their down? Same principle, larger scale.
Not true! You are not showing love for your country by gloating and putting people down. That's a thin veil and I see right through it. It's understandable (but not excusable) why the losing side is bitter and angry. But the winning side has absolutely no excuse for their bad behavior. And the fact that you are still trying to defend it by saying "they do it, too" shows a lack of maturity and thoughtfulness.
The side that I'm on lost. That's the difference.
Again, I am only responsible for my own actions. It's called personal responsibility. I don't stoop to that level and anyone that does only has themselves to blame.
I can only speak for myself. As can all of you. What I see is sad. Of course I'm disappointed and frustrated. Anyone who lost something so pivotal and important would be. However, there is no reason the winning side has to beat you while your down. What does that say about you?
Celebration does not equal gloating.
