Is soy formula milk better than enfamil formula (cows milk)?
Im trying to be vegetarian and dont want my 3 month old drinking cows milk anymore. Would it be okay to switch??
Also, I know it’s just my opinion and it doesn’t matter, but an infant/child’s diet shouldn’t necessarily be switched to match your own. Just because YOU want to be Vegetarian does not mean your baby has to be. My best friend is Vegan and has denied her little girl all sorts of foods because of her lifestyle choice. Foods that she needs because they have essential vitamins and proteins. She is severely underweight because of it. Not saying you are doing that but just a thought 🤷🏻♀️
@oceanbabe424, not at all. I hope i wasnt either. Honestly it just hard to believe anything anyone says now a days. Idk who to believe and what to do. 😩 everything is everywhere and although it does make sense that the food industry puts bad stuff in the food we eat so that the pharmaceutical companies and Dr. benefit from it long term.
@oceanbabe424, i see... i will check them out. Have you also checked out what the health links they have about some facts they state to back up their statements?
@oceanbabe424, sorry idk its just hard for me to believe what a journalist is saying over a Dr. thats just my opinion and i respect yours too!
@oceanbabe424, i get the diabetes part but the other links how can you go based on what journalists are saying instead of doctors who actually have a degree on that? I dont get it. Plus the times article does say that red meat DOES cause cancer so how is the documentary lying in that sense?
Soy formula can be very constipating too. Maybe a vegetarian lifestyle would be better when your child is a little older. And yes your child should have a doctor. It’s very important they are seen regularly.
@oceanbabe424, can you show me proof that it is? I would love to see it!
@amomandherbug, have you seen What the health on Netflix? I recommend you watch it. But thanks for your info.
@kiki.2217, Well... lots of things.
For starters, it is incredibly hard to get fat-soluble Vitamins A & D in a Vegan diet. These are most commonly found in foods such as egg yolks and dairy products from grass grazing animals. The highest quality sources of protein are whey (made from milk), and eggs. Meat is not far behind. Plant sources like legumes and grains are quite low in biological value, contrary to Vegan popular belief. Omega-3 fatty acids (found in red blood cells and strongly correlated with good health) are found in abundance in fish oil, an animal product. Vitamin B12 is a required nutrient, and is found exclusively in animal products. It’s absence can cause anemia as well as damage to the nervous system. And yes, there are many many supplements you can take to make up for a lot of these, but I feel like if you have to take so many different supplements to make up for missing nutrients, that’s a huge sign that the diet itself is unhealthy. Especially for a kid 🤷🏻♀️
@oceanbabe424, do most humans not understand their own physiology? Some here do, some here do not. Hormone manipulation is typically most evident during the human onset of puberty is it not? Which is many rotations around your star from human birth. Why does this information not seem to be common knowledge?
@modom16, my son is now 2 and hasn’t had no problems at all he’s a good healthy boy never had a problem with him been sick at all
@ymoreno16, Look up soy formula and estrogen. I don’t mean to be rude but they are finding it could cause many problems for both boys and girls. I would much prefer to use a broken down one like nutramigen.
My son was on soy gerber milk since he was 2 weeks old actually nothing wrong with it it’s just a bit more expensive but if you get wic it’s actually not so bad
@pettybetty I see that now that I re read it lol
@veemitchell I think she meant a cows milk based formula. Not actually cows milk.

My Pediatrician told me he would never recommend Soy based formula, especially for a girl. So many hormones. Just because formula says “milk based” does not mean that it’s “cow’s milk”. There is a reason formula is okay and regular milk is not. It’s as close to breastmilk as you can get and thousands of babies drink it and are perfect and healthy. Even if your baby was lactose intolerant, there are still other formula options that are not milk based that you can choose without switching to Soy ☺️
And you need a pediatrician. Your child should be seen regularly
Also vegetarians use dairy products. Did you mean vegan?
There have been quite a few studies on how soy formula is not good for them. I would not use it unless it was absolutely necessary.
Why was your 3 month old drinking cows milk like ever
@kiki.2217 oh okay! Lol can you call a pediatricians office and ask to speak to an on call nurse. They don't ask who the patient is.
@mckallalynn.., its enfamil, and its based on cows milk, sorry i forgot to state that
She actually doesnt have a pediatrician they kicked me out for not letting them vaccinate her that day
I don't think a 3 month old should be drinking regular milk. Just formula or breastmilk
Just seen a chick on offer up selling 12 mo old baby clothes, bottles and (gasp) baby milk! 5 cans for 10 bucks each. They damn near 30 in the store !!!!! Now is a bad mom? Idnt think so 😝😝😎

Happy World Breastfeeding Week! Please share your breastfeeding stories and tips!
Hi everyone! @kimberlyyyy_the-preemie-mom here. For today's chat we're going to talk about breastfeeding and pumping in honor of World Breastfeeding Week! Both can seem complicated or stressful, but remember you have lots of support here! With my first son I had things going against us for breastfeeding.
I wish I knew back when he was younger that we could have still tried! With my second...
Breastfeeding.
I am a HUGE breastfeeding advocate. No, I will NOT shame you if you decide to formula feed, and will not tolerate anyone else doing so on my post. Everyone has their own reasons on why they feed their child the way they see fit.

Today’s topic: introducing solids.
I’ll do another about what is ok for feeding, but for now let’s focus on the *when*.
Solids are anything beyond breastmilk or formula. This includes: cereals, juices, purée, etc.
Not only is 6 months an important milestone, but there are also other factors that should ALL be met before introducing: sitting unsupported, loss of tongue thrust, pincher grasp are huge. These ensure your baby isn’t at risk for, amongst other things, choking. Baby being intereste...
Can we have a serious discussion? We can argue the topic all we want in the comments. I’m not afraid of a little heated discussion, haha! No reporting views that are different than yours. TOPIC: COWS MILK. 🐄 Do you feed it to your children? Do YOU drink it? For me, it’s devastating that so many support an Industry that is a known horror show. The mother cows are forced to reproduce, their babies are taken away with in the first hours of their lives, and the boy cows are either sold for mea...
