Ftm question
I plan on baby wearing if I can. I was wondering if I baby wear, do I still need to get a big stroller? The kind that you can put the car seat on? I don't really like those strollers because they're so bulky but don't have any experience so I need advice. Thanks!
We never used our stroller with my dd. I wore her everywhere. My advice is to invest in a GOOD quality carrier (Tula, Beco, Lillebaby etc) and try to find a local chapter of Babywearing International near you. I loved my Beco Soleil and my Tula. They took ALL the pressure and weight of carrying baby off of my back and once she was too big to be carried on my front and had good head and trunk control we wore her on our backs. Strollers are bulky most of the time and take up space in the car but baby carriers can usually be folded down pretty small to fit in a diaper bag. My dd weighed about 14 lbs when we started baby wearing, and I still wear her in a toddler carrier when we go to the zoo or other busy crowded places.
I planned on the same thing but my baby hates the carrier. The stroller is a lifesaver and not hard on your back if you have a 10 pound baby like I did lol. I only use the carrier to run to the store but when shopping n stuff the stroller is easier for me. Can bend over to get things, put my drink in the stroller. Hang some clothes on top of I need yet another hand. Which I always do lol and long walks are more enjoyable. Baby can see more, I can breath etc
I've done a lot of both with my 5m old. I usually wear her for outings. I love being snuggled with her. One thing that's nice with the travel system too is if it's a bigger outing then you can tuck the diaper bag under the stroller. I once tried to babywear and carry the diaper bag. I felt like a pack mule...
Do you have a car? If so you're you're going to need the bucket seat anyways. I wore my son plenty, but when he was little it was great if he fell asleep in the car, I just snapped the bucket onto the stroller and did my shopping. If I wore him I would have to get him out of the seat and he would probably wake up.
Ps ds never really woke up when we would wrap him, we just pre tied the wrap the gently slipped him out of his car seat and literally slip him into the wrap, tighten the wrap around him and he was tightly snuggled into you, there body and head are snugged in tight and supported, so there head doesn't bounce around like in the carriers...
You also don't get a sore back or whatnot like a carrier.
My sils both used carriers and they always complained about sore backs and they couldn't believe how easy we got our ds from the car seat into his wrap, especially when sleeping.
I highly recommend a wrap.
?
I like baby wearing but I don’t take my daughter out of the car seat when she’s sleeping. I have a big stroller but it’ll also come in handy when she’s out of the car seat.
I did want to mention though that there are tiny frame strollers that literally only function with the car seat attached so it’s not bulky at all.
i like having a stroller a lot of department stores do not have strollers mine folds up and opens in a second and its also nice to have when they are sleeping and you don't want to wake them
going to the zoo walking amusement park etc
i went school shopping for my son and the striker was in the other car i almost died lol carrying lo they get heavy not sure how long ppl baby wear but i don't think my 17 month old would go for that
We did, we bought 2 wraps and my husband was the huge baby wearer in the house, I did too but if we went anywhere he "insisted" that he wear the baby ?
We never used the stroller, I think the first time we used it was when he was 1yr because the inlaws wanted to do a group walk and all the strollers were out so ??..
I'd just buy some wraps and use that, if you decide later on you want a stroller then get one later, I don't think you will but to each there own..
We still don't use the stroller and he's 2 1/2yrs my husband still wraps him on occasion, ds absolutely loves it. ?
I think the travel system stroller will make your life easier. I planned to mainly wear my baby, but she wouldn't tolerate my lillebaby carrier until she was about 6 weeks old, so I bought the City Mini stroller with an adaptor for my car seat. It has been so useful! You won't always want to wake your baby up once they are asleep in a car seat to strap them into a carrier. If you need to go to the restroom, try on clothes, or anything of that nature, it's much easier to just have someone else take the stroller than to mess with a baby carrier. I ended up using my lillebaby carrier half the time and my stroller the other half.
Good point crozeell!
I'm not sure Kelly lol. I need advice! Not an umbrella stroller for a newborn though. I guess I'm just wondering if a stroller is necessary at all.
The one plus about those strollers, i will say, is that if baby fell asleep in the car seat, you simply transfer to the stroller without waking them up. I honestly never used a stroller a whole lot because the only place i would need it is the grocery store and they have buggies. But if you like going on walks or clothes shopping, it will come in handy.
I baby wear but I have a big stroller. I use the stroller when we go to the all or are hanging out in public and we are going to be there for a long time, just because i can keep all of our stuff together in the stroller and have a place to put her if she falls asleep.. I baby wear around the house, outside and if we are making quick stops I wear her.
