Bad car wreck
So yesterday I was in a bad car accident. I was sitting at a red light and a lady was texting and driving and she hit me going 45 miles an hour because she was too busy on her phone to realize there was a red light. I had whiplash and I'm veryyy sore today. Well I have a rental car now and I'm having a hard time driving. I freak out every time I come to a stop because I fear the car behind me isn't paying attention. Anyone ever deal with this before?
Never been in an accident with another vehicle but I have seen very many people run red lights when I'm already in the middle of the intersection. So I always wait a few seconds when the light turns green. Hell, just yesterday I witnessed a semi go flying through a red light almost taking out 2-3 cars that were about to go. He had PLENTY of time/space to stop...must've been late dropping off his load ?
My mother and I got rear ended by a guy going 50 when I was 13. We were stopped waiting to turn into my sisters school to pick her up....she was standing out in front of the school and saw the whole thing. I can't imagine how awful that must have been to see. All I remember is screaming "MOM, MY NECK!!" (cuz I got whiplash) and then her ripping me out of the car and laying me in someone's front yard, and then the ambulance ride. I know it was a bad move for my mom to grab me out because I could've been hurt worse but she said she thought he hit the gas tank and the car was gonna catch fire. Anyways, to this day I ALWAYS watch the cars behind me when I'm stopped. I don't even think about it, I just do it. I'm 31 now so that's how long it's stuck with me. Hope you feel better soon, the 3rd day is usually the worst imo. Heating pad on the neck/shoulders seemed to help me.
I got t boned by a semi at an intersection just around the corner from my house when I was 8 weeks pregnant. He failed to yield to me and by the time I noticed he wasnt stopping it was too late. Now coming to intersections where I have the right of way I feel like people aren't going to see me and I feel a very strong urge to slam on my breaks. I always remove my foot from the gas when I'm driving through intersections and gives the brake. It's awful.
Im so sorry hun !! Ive been through the same about 4 years ago i had a small lil Toyota celica and i was stop at a red light and a big lifted dodge ram twin cab ran into the back of my car going 70 the guy was drunk and it throw my car across the intersection about 15 ft i had my roommmate in the car and somebody in the back in my car it was horrible i dont know how we all made it out okay with whiplash and some bruise but nothing major car the back of my car was smash into just about into the front of my car but im still terrify while driving that somebody goin to do that again it not as bad as when it first happen but im always checkin my mirrors when stopping at light
Someone hit me just over a year ago, it was the first incident I ever had in over a decade of driving.
It wasn't a bad accident but it scared me, for a while I was so nervous driving but it does get better, my doctor told me to keep driving and I swear there were so many idiots that first month or two, but it got me over it quicker.
I wish I could say my back healed as quickly as my worries! Hope you feel better soon!
When I was probably 12 we got into an accident where we hydroplaned and struck an 18 wheeler. For probably about a year I had the worst vehicle anxiety. I hated going anywhere and when I would I'd be clutching the door and closing my eyes. I hated going around turns and coming to stops. I hate to say but it eventually just went away. I learned that other drivers on the road have to trust you just as much as you have to trust them. If you can, let someone else drive whenever possible. Accidents are incredibly scary! Deep breaths when you drive. Take as much time as you need/can to take a break and recover.
A few years ago my SO was in a really bad car accident. It was raining and he was slowing down on the highway because there was traffic. The car behind him slammed into my SO causing him to spin across 3 lanes of highway. He ended up hitting the side guardrail and his car was almost smushed in half. For a long time after that he refused to drive and when he did he was extra cautious and nervous. Eventually it did pass though.
I got into an accident as a teen and it scared me to drive after that. Just always be aware of your surroundings. I always check my rear view when coming to a stop, especially in winter. I had someone ram into like that as well.
A nervous driver is a bad driver and more proned to accidents. Easier said than done, but need to work through this.
I'm so sorry, so glad you're physically okay!!
It's going to take a lot of time. Thankfully our accident was winter weather related so I'm almost back to normal driving during the summer or any season as long as it's sunny and the roads are dry.
Winter is tough, we slid on black ice on the highway, hit a highway sign sideways and then slid down a steep ditch. There was a car already down there that slid on the ice and when I was watching for the ambulance saw another vehicle sliding. I was the only one hurt with a broken arm.
Winter driving is rough. Just driving in town is okay, but I refuse to get on the highway (if I can't help it!) if there's snow coverage or if the road looks wet. I hate curves in the highway, I'm always worried we'll side off. It's awful, it was 2 years ago and I don't know if I'll ever be back to normal. ? We live in Michigan. Lots of snow. Ugh.
I'm so sorry! Thank goodness you're ok. I've flipped a car over about 3 1/2 years ago and I'm still uneasy about sharp turns. ? It definitely sucks, but at the same time it's a good thing because it's made me a safer driver. I know that has nothing to do with your situation because your accident wasn't your fault. But from your post it sounds like you've become more aware of the others around you, which is probably just scary right now, but hopefully eventually will be beneficial. I'll be praying for you and I hope the anxiety will pass with time, I know it's scary.
I'm glad you're ok!! And I'm sorry this happened to you!
About a year and a half ago I was driving my company truck and a guy was messing with his gps (ironically trying to find the hospital) and he blew thru a stop sign! I t-boned him and he was going so fast that he turned my truck around (he was in a corolla).
Luckily neither of us were hurt aside from bruises! But I still freak out when someone looks like they are coming up too fast on a stop sign!!
Yes. I was stopped at a light and a drunk driver hit me from the rear going 55 mph. Worst part was I happened to look up at my rear view and saw him coming but I couldn't move as there were cars around me and getting out would have been dangerous. I like you suffered from severe whiplash. Physical therapy works wonders. Anyway, that was 8 years ago and still to this day I'm constantly watching in my rear view mirror when I'm stopped. More so now that I have children. I wish I could tell you it gets better but for me it didn't. Regardless, I'm glad you weren't more hurt than you were. I hope you feel better.
Yes. Similar thing happened to me over 10 years ago but on the highway. Traffic stopped for construction and the driver behind me didn't stop and hit me at like 60 mph. I remember watching him the rear view mirror and trying to turn my wheel. I think that's the only thing that saved me from broken legs and such. My passenger side and back took the brunt of the damage. I blacked out but when I came to my car was in the median. My neck will never be the same.
I had anxiety for a long time when traffic came to a stop on the highway. It's eased now but it can still creep up. Time will help the anxiety.
I was rear ended at a stop light Aug. 2014. Same situation. I ended up having a herniated disc and having back surgery in Feb. 2015. Then I was in an auto accident this January, it was worse than the first, 3 other cars were involved. My car was totalled.
I'm so glad you are ok. And if you start hurting else where just get checked! Don't ignore it.
You have to be strong. I have anxiety to this day about it. I hate driving but we gotta do it! I find myself grinding my teeth or holding my breath. Just have to remember to breath and relax.
Oh wow... First, I just want to say I'm glad you're ok, besides having whiplash. Secondly, I know how it feels. I am deathly afraid of idiotic drivers, especially when I have children with me! This is one of the exact reasons I HATE when people text while driving. There is absolutely no text that can't wait until you're no longer driving. I snap on anyone who I see doing it. Just keep in mind out of all the times you're driven, this only happened once. It may give you a little peace of mind realizing that over 99% of the times you've driven have ended with successful trips. If it's really bad, see a therapist like pp suggested.
This same thing happened to my husband back in January. He was at a complete stop waiting to turn into his job, turn signal on, when a truck rear ended him going almost 60 mph.
Years back in the winter, I got into two accidents in less than a week. First I hit a deer (scary but minimal damage) and the following Saturday I rear ended a truck in the middle of white out conditions. I was only going about 20 mph when I hit him, and his truck had absolutely no damage, but my minivan basically needed a whole new front end. After that I was terrified to drive or even be a passenger. It took me awhile to get over it, but I think that's because I refused to go anywhere. I think if I would have gotten back in the car sooner, I would have gotten over it sooner.
Try not to let this deter you from driving. There are definitely a lot of terrible drivers out there, but you can't stop living because of one incident.
Good luck op, I hope you feel better soon!
yes, exactly what happened to me some crazy broad in a bentley crashed into me from behind while i was stopped at a red light & took off! the nerve of her, i went to the hospital and had really bad whiplash that fractured my neck, the cops "never found the video camera street footage" so she never was caught, still have a phobia ill get crashed into.
Thanks everyone. I know it's still fresh but it's just terrifying! Plus the fact that it could have been avoided if she wasn't texting.
About 6 years ago I was rear ended the same way but at a dead stop in traffic on a highway. She was doing 50 mph coming onto the highway when she hit us. I broke my nose, my eye socket, split my eyebrow open really bad and hurt my back and neck.
Still to this day every time I have to slow down or stop I am terrified the person behind me isn't going to stop. I'm constantly checking the rear view and when someone comes up behind me really fast and then stops I want to punch them in the face?. I wish I could say it gets easier but for me it hasn't yet.
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
Short Luteal Phase?
I've just started temping because I believe that the reason I haven't had a BFP yet, after 20 months, is because I believe I may have a Luteal Phase Defect.

the amount of women who are clueless about their own anatomy is so sad and shocking. a lot of the women are older than me and have more children then I do 😳
now I understand that everyone has their own opinion on the topic and grown adults can do whatever they want with their bodies but to deny facts and make up false statements about your own anatomy when it comes to your unborn child is just so disappointing.
