Rant. Puffs at 3 1/2 months
Last night I was out with friends. A couple sat down next to us with a beautiful 31/2 month old (my friend knew the parents). Halfway into our meal I looked over and they were feeding the baby puffs and using a straw to give the baby water. WHYYYYYYY???

Health experts and breastfeeding experts agree that it’s best to wait until your baby is around six months old before offering solid foods. The American Academy of Pediatrics, the World Health Organization, and many other health organizations recommend that babies be exclusively breastfed (no cereal, juice or other foods) for the first 6 months of life. I’m not going into the many health benefits of delaying solids here; see When Should Baby Start Solids? for more information.

"Introduce solid foods around 6 months of age
Expose baby to a wide variety of healthy foods
Also offer a variety of textures
Evidence
A substantial number of families introduce complementary solid foods around 3-4 months, especially if the infant is perceived as fussy.
Formula fed infants are at more risk for early introduction of solids.
Introduction to solids prior to 4 months is associated with increased weight gain and adiposity, both in infancy and early childhood.
Research indicates that it is important to expose children to a wide variety of flavors and textures.
Many babies and toddlers need to be exposed to foods multiple times before accepting them.
Babies and toddlers are more likely to eat foods they see their peers and parents eating."
My son would cry and kick his feet opening his mouth when I was feeding my girls (they didn't get solid food until 12mths) and he would get missed out . I felt bad so I let him taste food but it was real food like chicken (pre chewed) , and pasta . Yes only a tiny bit but I did it .
My children are always ebf this son breastfed until 3 1/3years, I've never bought a jar of baby food and always made them food my self.
their selection of food wasn't the best it's and you should not introduce any foods until the child is min 6 months better 12 mths but their child and their choice . Each person will do something another person may view as careless or unthinkable but that's life .
I just mind my own kids personally
It's been 5 hours.
