soda addiction

My dh is addicted to soda. I was sorting the recycling today and found six 2 liter bottles and several cans if mountain dew. Since last Wednesday (when we last cashed in the recycling) he's consumed SIX 2 liter bottles plus several cans! One 2 liter of mountain dew has over 1020 calories and almost 300 grams of sugar. Ugh I'm so frustrated. I've tried everything, infused water, ice water, crystal light, flavored water, carbonated water, nothing works. He says he "needs the caffeine" but he drinks it before bed after popping two Excedrin. He's a grown a$$ man but his health is taking a toll. He's developed sever acid reflux (I don't know if the two are related) and his teeth are losing the enamal (he just had another root canal). We don't but soda when we go grocery shopping, he'll buy it when I'm not with him. Help!

I used to drink pop but found that if I drank carbonated water with a splash of juice, it is just as good! Better even. I think I just like the bubbles. Maybe see if he'll try that?

I'm the fizzy drink addict in our house... I'm addicted to the caffeine but I don't like coffee or regular tea.

I also drink at least a litre of water, a glass of milk and a glass of juice every day. Plus the occasional fruit teas or squashes.

Not gonna lie, I have a caffeine addiction. Obviously I severely limit it while pregnant, but when I'm not I drink black coffee and unsweetened tea. And a glass of water for every glass of tea or coffee because caffeine will dehydrate you (explains his need for Excedrin regularly, he's likely dehydrated) There's also no reason to consume ridiculous amounts of sugar to get your caffeine! He won't admit it, but I guarantee he's just as addicted to the sugar as he is to the caffeine. If he keeps it up he'll be diabetic before he's 50 with the stomach and teeth of an 80 year old. Soda is horrible for you.

If he's making separate trips to buy it himself there's nothing you can do. He's an adult and he won't stop until he wants to. If I were in your shoes though, I'd be doing some research on the effects of soda on the body and showing him. If he wants to be healthy and to be around for his kids and grandkids, he'll have to stop.

I drink the soda in this house. My DF has a bad coffee addiction. He doesn't drink any carbonated drink but all day long he will drink coffee. One time he didn't drink it for 2 days because we ran out and he got sick and was shaking. He also starts getting headaches .I wish he would cut back some .

My boyfriend is the same way. Not as bad as that but if he doesn't get his caffeine and nicotine he's a nightmare. He is big into vaping and makes his own juice for his smoke vape thingy. He HAS to have that and monster or Mountain Dew or he has tantrums like my two year old. I am slowly getting him to drink more Gatorade and juices. It's a start I guess...

My SO is the same way. Need caffeine? Drink a cup of coffee in the morning. Have a headache? Drink some water. He literally will complain and get pissy if I don't want him to waste gas driving to the convenience store to get more soda... It drives me nuts. And he thinks he can tell me what to eat and not eat because I'm pregnant. Ohhhhh no.

Look, you can talk to him about his diet. But at the end of the day, it's his diet and his choices. You can be honest with him, and talk to him, but you can't control what he eats or drinks. At least no more than he can control what you eat.

My SO was the same but with Monster he started at 2-4 a day then we came to an agreement to just 1 a day but he always wanted it and i knew it was bad but he just didn't listen so one day he felt bad so he went to the doctor and he developed acid reflux, slower heartbeats, and it was starting to affect a prior surgery on his abdomen. They sent him to get blood work done and scans of his heart. That doctor visit scared him and he quit for good. Maybe take him to a doctor to teach him negative affects of so much soda and how it is affecting his body.

My husband drinks nothing but soda. It's absolutely disgusting. I've tried just about everything, and nope... He doesn't like it. What's the worst thing to me, is in the middle of the night when he gets thirsty he will get up and grab a can of soda. YUCK. I'm a huge water drinker so the fridge is always stocked with water bottles. You'd think he'd just grab one at least once in his life.

My husband is the same way. He was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea. First thing doctor said was ditch the soda. My husband doesn't care. What's really hard is trying to raise healthy kids when all your husband consumes is soda and pizza. Sorry, I don't have any advice but I know your struggle.

Just had a huge argument. Ugh literally, so stupid. He drives the car like a fucking maniac when he got angry then slammed all the free mountain dew into the front of the house. My reaction, "this solves nothing but destroying food and you are showing me that not only your life but mine and the baby's lives DO NOT MATTER to you. Is that really how you feel???!" IDIOT. He was angry because I upgraded my Brookstone headphones when we exchanged both pair because none of the other wired ones worked. I spent 42$ to upgrade. Then we leave the store and he's yelling at me in the mall, You fucked up!

How far along were you..

How far along were you.. when you found out you were pregnant? We found out literally the first possible minute, six days before my period was due. Felt every freakin minute of it. Only 55 more days..and counting!
