I gained like 50 lbs with my first and had a vaginal birth no problem. I can't imagine weight gain increases chances by that much.

Don't worry OP. I'm sorry your doctor went that route with you as far as trying to frighten you to control your weight. I've had an ED too. It's a struggle and gaining during pregnancy is hard for me to tough out.

You are a tall frame. I'm not too worried by what you gained or anything. He is referring to obesity and increased risk for c section due to what we call a tissue dystocia. I usually know the cut off weight for those and I'm not stating it here. I doubt you are in danger of being so pelvically full of tissue your baby can't fit.

Take a deep breath. Tell yourself it's ok. Keep doing what you need to eat healthy for that baby and weight gain will happen or not.

Lol my first pregnancy I gained 35 pounds... And I'm FOUR FOOT TEN! No c-section for me. That's ridiculous!

I'm 5'11" and gained over 60 lbs with my first. Never did my dr once say anything about getting a c section due to my weight gain. I think drs want to do c sections due to it being a convenience for them. Needless to say I'd be finding me a new ob n telling that one where to shove it.

Don't worry I gained 78 lbs with my first and had GD. I was never told once that I had a higher chance of c-section.

Find a new doctor NOW! That doctor makes no sense!

That seems crazy to me. I'd definitely question that. Or even ask to see a different doctor in the practice, if that's available to you. I'm 5'4", and started at 100lbs, so weight gain is HARD for me. But I've gained about 40 lbs at this point and it's never been mentioned as an issue. Sometimes I think OB's TRY and find something wrong with their patients, so they can schedule sections just to make it easier on them. Ugh.

I was the same as you with my first pregnancy. Perfectly healthy, except I gained about 60 pounds. My doctor never told me such none sense. I had my son vaginally with no complications.

That's odd, I definitely would seek out another doctor if hey try and schedule you for one. I see no reason why that would make the case for a c-sec!

I think you have nothing to worry about, just don't let anyone force you into it.

I've never heard that either. I'm 5'3" 110 pounds not pregnant and I gain about 50 to 60 every time. I do have to have a section but it's never been because of my weight. I had 4 vaginal births before my sections as well.

What? I gained 50 pounds with my dd I was almost 200 at 5'3" I just have no self control while pregnant. I had a normal vaginal birth not one of my Dr's. Mentioned weight gain = c section. Go get a second opinion asap sounds like your Dr may be c-section happy.

Thanks ladies for yhe responses. It's weird that my midwife hasn't pushed for a c-section in any of my other appointments. I'll be seeking a second opinion for sure.

So when I was pregnant I gained around 40 lbs. 20 of those lbs were in the second trimester. I had to go in once to get bp checked because I was extremely dizzy and felt faint. So when I went in my doctor wasn't there but my sisters was and he strongly pushes for women to schedule their c-sections. He told me that because I gained so much weight my baby was so big and there was no way I was going to have a vaginal birth.

Well when the day came I went into labor my doctor was unavailable so he came and delivered my dd vaginally with no issues except heart rate was going down. But she was born easily.

Oh I need to brush up on my acronyms. I'm really not sure how weight gain would correlate with a c section though.

BLaw!!!

That is so weird. I have never heard anything like that and I have a friend that gained like 78 lbs during pregnancy and she was never told that.

I don't know what an ED is though. Sorry. Does that have something to do with it?
