Come one come all lol
First off congratulations to all the bfp's this month. Thank you for getting my hopes up during this long bumpy journey. I will continue to be here to support anyone whenever I can.
Hi Baby4ever, yes I def have the vision problems, I'm dizzy/nauseous alot of the time and get big-time hot flashes. It's probably from the Clomid. I also have 900 unit pens of Gonal F but been taking 300 units a day. We're hoping to freeze some good extra eggs too...crossing our fingers that we have enough! I've been on the Endometrin progesterone suppositories for months after IUIs, so my doc has said that I'll do that again BUTT she did prescribe me the progesterone in sesame oil (prob to take directly after retrieval). Thank goodness I won't be taking those all the time tho. Ouch. Also, what are stims? Probably something in this box I have yet to inject. haha
That's interesting because I thought well we already produce progesterone on our own but if they're taking out a bunch of follies then they're stripping out a lot of progesterone along with it so that's why they supplement what's taken away.
Oh yea I've seen that before. I didn't read the instructions for it though. Because I thought it was an oil that it would be rubbed into the skin lol. That's funny I was reading about IVF success stories last night and this lady explained the tricks to make it easier to inject and what to do afterwards for the injection site so it wouldn't hurt as much or wouldn't get as sore. I'm such a sissy when it comes to butt shots. I can still remember when I was 5 yrs old and having my first butt shot. My butt hurts just sitting here thinking about it lol. I was prescribed crinone gel but then it was switched to endometrine and I think it was based on what my insurance would cover because I was also prescribed follistim but it was switched to gonal f and both meds are expensive and this was based on my insurance coverage. Plus my ins is contracted with freedom pharmacy for fertility meds. I know I would prefer the progesterone gel or inserts because I would run for the hills if I had to take a butt shot...
Jrod: You are welcome! I hope you get your BFP on the first try too!! Yep IVF often times answers why you're in the 'Unexplained Category'. My RE explained at our initial visit while we were unexplained at the time that it's usually a chromosome issue where there are too many chromosomes in the egg and sperm or vice versa. We were concerned this was the issue with, especially after already having one child we thought there was something going on in that arena but turns out that was not the case this entire journey. When I was on clomid I overproduced and the hot flashes were awful, I was having vision problems as we and it was making me dizzy. I think I had an aversion to it. Femera Rocks! Now with IVF it doesn't matter if I overproduce because if we can get as many as we can to fertilize then we're going to freeze our future. Is anyone or did anyone freeze their embabies? Yea I think our 'circus' box was around that much wait. But I had received two because the gonal f and ovidrel have to be refrigerated. What is your gf dosage? Mine is 900 IUs but I take 150 QD per day.
Progesterone in oil. It's for after transfer. After ivf retrieval, most of the cells that make progesterone in the follicle are removed along with the egg so the progesterone has to be put back in somehow. Usually suppositories or injections accomplish that.
The oil is kind of thick and must be injected intramuscularly. There are tricks to make that shot less painful but after several weeks of injections into your butt, or hip muscle, they will start to get sore.
The stims are a piece of cake. Smaller needle, sub q injection
Taking these injections seems intimidating but a lot of ladies say it's not that bad. When I saw all the needles My jaw dropped because of how many were in the package. I'm not worried about that as much as I am not being able to get there as something could happen. Oh no the paranoia is setting in lol. What's PIO?
Carol: Doesn't it suck when everything gets pushed back since you've been waiting for so long? Keep me posted if you get the green light or not? Fx crossed you get started!
Thank you for the reply and encouragement, baby4ever. It def has been a lonnnggggg, sad and discouraging road for my husband and I, but we are hoping that this month brings us the answer to all of our prayers. I have been told that ivf oftentimes helps explain "unexplainable infertility" so I'm happy for that. Luckily, I've responded well to Clomid during all of my iui's and produced some good follies, so hoping that the added boost of Gonal F will bring out twice or 3x as many. I take it, your body didn't like the Clomid? My 1st bloodwork & ultrasound since going on the 2 meds is this coming Weds. And I was cracking up at one of your comments about being overwhelmed when you got your medications because that's exactly how I felt last week when our 15lb box full of fun arrived!
Nope I was supposed to start the injections the very next day after cd2 check. They wanted to check follicles and lining. They saw my lining was too thick so I couldn't start and blood work showed I ovulated so they have to wait. I was told the uterus heals pretty quick so I didn't need time in between. It just so happens that I was going to start three weeks after the surgery
My meds came today! I'm shocked at the amount of needles. So overwhelming! I can't have my dh inject them for me because he has an aversion to needles. Did anyone find they had run out of spots to inject themselves?
Carol: is the cd 2 scan to check to see if your polyp has cleared on it's own after having a down regulation cycle with bc?
I do feel relieved a lot. Trying on our own this time just wasn't happening and then we didn't have any luck with the IUI's and it's good to finally have answers. I'm hoping so too and with the icsi they all fertilize.
Reyn: Me too! Keep us posted. Hopefully they can refer you to a RE.
Doddy: Yay! You're almost there! I bet you're sick of injections. How has your cycle gone overall? Lol. Thank you for the vote of confidence!
Carolyn: Woohoo!! When do you start Lupron or are you starting bc first? I couldn't be put on bc because I never did well on it in the past. I start Lupron on Thursday.
Jrod: I'm sorry you've been at this for so long especially in the unexplained category! But guess what? Usually once the Drs get to see how the egg and sperm interact and fertilize then it's determined why you were unexplained. Don't worry there's light at the end of the tunnel. IVF will most definitely get you answers and hopefully your bfp! Clomid and I are enemies! Lol. I wish you luck too but don't leave me hanging lol. Update me on how you're doing with this process. Do you know when your first us with bw is?
Lilass: Hey lady!! Thank you!!
Hello! It looks like we're starting this newest cycle/journey together! After 4 years trying to conceive naturally to no avail, finding out that dh and I fall into the "unexplained infertility" category, and 4 iui's later, I am now getting geared up for an ivf procedure. I am so excitedand nervous! I was on birth control for the past 3 weeks and today took my first dose of clomid 100mg & gonal F 300 units injection. Wish me luck and same goes for you ladies!
I'm glad to see this group! And read the posts.
I'm 40 & DH is 39. We've TTC since last October. My OBGYN ran fertility tests on me & found I have low ovarian reserve. DH is getting his semen analysis this Tues. (Major points for him since I went to OBGYN on July 7.) When OBGYN gets DH results I'll fill you ladies in.
"Stims" are the stimulation medications that you have, like Gonal-F. ☺️
