How soon can you test?
My FET is officially set for April 12th! Our RE is resistant to put in two pgs tested embryos and requiring a consultation with a high risk neonatologist before he makes a final decision. My question is how long after transfer of 1 or 2 5dt can you test?
Pp is right... there have been ladies who’ve had negative hpts but show positive blood test. I just read this article on hcg and why it would show positive sooner in some cases and later in others or negative but show positive blood test results. It mentioned something about BMIs. Women with higher BMIs have lower hcg results and women with lower BMIs have higher hcg results. In a nutshell hcg entering the bloodstream depends on two factors: when the embryo attaches itself to the uterine wall and implantation occurs usually between 6-12 days. For instance when an embryo implants on day 6 it finishes by day 9 secreting hcg hormones into the bloodstream. Then by day 14 of missed period then it would show positive during a natural cycle. But with IVF this is much different due to when and how many were transferred and if this is a day 3 egg or day 5 blastocyst. The other factor is due to metabolism. How quickly or slowly hcg enters the bloodstream. Hope this helps and you decide what’s best for you! ?
Yup, totally with Stacy on this one. I think it’s a balancing act of when it’s typical for most of us to see positives and when there’s a small chance of positive with a larger false disappointment factor. I’ve tested early so many times and gotten anxious and crazy trying to see a line. And each day you Test you’re hoping against hope it’s positive but that persistent negative that may end up positive later destroys us.
So I advise to hold out as long as possible and test when you can reliably get a positive you can depend on. ?
The soonest you can test would be 6dp5dt or if this was a six day blast, 5dp6dt or if was a day 3 embryo 8dp3dt. Any sooner and the lines may show but they’ll be faint or there may not be a line at all that’s why it’s better to wait longer to have stronger lines show up. Let’s say you transferred two and they both stuck or one and it splits then 4dp5dt there may be a strong positive... Personally I’d wait for beta test so you don’t stress yourself out with poas!
Do you have factors that would decrease your odds? Are you well over 35, have lower egg quality, embryo quality or PCOS, or history or MCs, etc? These are compelling reasons that may decrease the odds of both taking and that you may need to just have one viable right? I hope that can be presented and you get what you want.
As far as testing, I think you can test anytime after 6dp5dt. Or 8dp3dt. But these early tests you have to be prepared to see negatives and not get discouraged until your beta.
I find the longer you can wait to test, the less stress you put yourself in! Good luck!
Thank you for all your advice!
