Dog moms ?
Someone says that they got their hair done and a mani/pedi for Mother's Day. They don't have any children and it was a gift from her dog. She also says that she's so proud of her boyfriend for recognizing that it's hard being a dog mom too. What is your response?

I don't care whatever makes them happy. DD nana has a dog and that was seriously high needs and she would spend thousands of dollars at the vet. That dog was probably more need than my child. It would be stupid if I got offended over her thinking she's his mom. My dog is like my kid and SO would always tell me to take my dog to get groomed and her nails painted like me so we can match before I had my DD ?

Dog moms? this makes me laugh. Dogs are not children but whatever??
deleted-user·
And I thought I was a crazy dog mom for spoiling my pups like they are my kids... ?
By the way, I never call myself a dog mom. But some people do. Shouldn't judge them about it. Don't know the reasonings behind it...

Part of me says "whatever floats her boat, not everyone can have kids", the other part says she's delusional and is being disrespectful to those who have had kids. ??♀️

Lol no ? I live in a affluent town and all the women that take their dogs everywhere in baby strollers is ridiculous. It drives me insane because they'll hog the elevators and shopping aisles!
But then again I'm far from a dog person so ?♀️

??
That is one of my biggest pet peeves. 2 of my friends are dog moms like that and I just steer clear from talking about their dogs because it is soo annoying.

My aunty could never have kids so she had dogs as children and calls them my cousin lol plus I call my dogs my fur babies but I don't expect a gift for mothersday off them lol
deleted-user·
Whatever rocks her boat I guess but not gonna lie, I'm rolling my eyes. lol. I've been a "dog mom" before I was a mom. There's no comparison, but hey, it's an excuse to get pampered. More power to her lol

Machunga, I'm just hypothesizing here, but I think the problem is that it is rewarding an unhealthy behavior. Owning a pet responsibly and being a good pet owner is a noble thing, and I highly regard it. I have a dog and a cat, and sometimes I wish I had the same time I had for them before my daughter. But, my human daughter has higher needs, desires, mental/physical/emotional/spiritual growth, and basic functional requirements than any animal will ever require.
It's a lifetime commitment to nurture, provide for, encourage, challenge, and shepherd my child's heart, mind, soul, and strength. I have commands from the Lord Almighty in the Bible to guide me and challenge me and nourish me in my path as a parent.
It simply not comparable, and I don't think it's healthy to pretend so.

What's the problem if it's not hurting anybody. What if she/he can't have kids? There may be a backstory that is unknown to you.
Sometimes grabbing a little happiness for yourself is the only thing that keeps you going.

Im showing this post to my husband...
Years ago I had dogs, cats, rats, hamsters, ferrets, birds, turtles....
And I want all the gifts I never got because being a pet mom is just so hard????
deleted-user·
?
That is all

I think everyone just wants to be included lol. They aren't a real mom so they make up something close enough. A dog mom ??♀️

I had dogs before I got pregnant the first time but celebrating mothers day as a "doggie mom" was not something that even crossed my mind.... Being a "doggie mom" is literally a walk in the park compared to my 2 year old tornado.
deleted-user·
It shows a total lack of perspective. Bless her little heart....
I think your comment was perfect ?
deleted-user·
lol I'd just laugh

I think comparing a child to a dog is silly. My Sil always celebrates Mother's Day with her dogs and it's weird, but whatever floats her boat. But when she made the comment that I 'couldn't handle a puppy, because it's harder to potty train and clean up after than my toddler' that pissed me off. I don't care what you celebrate or how you celebrate, but do not down me and what I do. I will always believe kids are harder and more trying than dogs. But if you wanna call yourself a dog mom, and spend your money, good for you.

Apparently saying "are you asking for jewelry next year" in a joking manner was not the correct response lol Her boyfriend who was like a brother to me growing up, texted me and said she's upset with me. ? I mean, I know the girl is sensitive but damn.

A huge eye roll.
I love my pets but taking care of them doesn't come close to being a mother to a small human being. I had a friend once tell me that her dog was more high maintenance than a baby. I said to her "let's revisit that statement in a few years."?
deleted-user·
Lol. I have a ton of dogs, and my maltese Zoey is the one Im closest too. She helped me get through some hard times where I was having medical problems, so I have a close bond with her. I love her like crazy, even buy her clothes, and call her my fur baby. By no means though, do I consider myself an actual mother or that raising and having her compares to raising and having a child. Lmao dogs are extremely simple, while children are a ton of hard work. When baby comes is when all the real hard work starts.
deleted-user·
Sit back and enjoy the show once she has kids ?
deleted-user·
If someone said that to me in person I'd probably say something like "oh... yah" because I'd feel awkward and wouldn't know wth to say but ??♀️ If thats how she feels, idc.

Whatever floats her boat. Her opinion and celebrating being a dog mom takes nothing from me
deleted-user·
?? lol okay then
deleted-user·
Mother's Day isn't celebrated in the animal kingdom. It's a human holiday, created by humans. That's just ridiculous.
deleted-user·
..... It's hard being a "dog mom"????? b**** please, gtfoh!
deleted-user·
Umm to each there own, I guess. I think it's kind of a slap in the face to the ladies that have actually birthed, and raise a human- by telling people you are considered a mother because you own a pet though. She's in for a rude awakening when she actually has a child?
