I would wean and switch to whole milk. Once I stopped breastfeeding my kids became interested in food. He will definitely eat if he is hungry! I'm sure it will be a bit of an adjustment but he will be fine. I know it's nerve-wracking though!
Do it very gradually. And offer real food at meals first. And slowly lower the amount offered. It should take a couple months b
Well u will not know till u try mom, I put both my boys in 3 percent milk when they were one. Good luck
Slowly switch from formula to milk but then it's getting him off milk to mostly food. We had to take away milk completely for our daughter to start eating because she would not eat and just wait for milk. Now she gets 1cup of milk every day or 2 she has yogert and cheese instead
Slowly switch him. After one he doesn't need formula, whole milk or whatever kind of milk should be good. Less milk = more food he will eat. He will do fine!!! Just see what he likes.
Thank you ladies for your help
I will start weaning him today.
Gummy- He normally gets about 4 6oz bottles a day and once in a blue wakes up at night for a bottle.
I made him eggs this morning and he had Cheerios. He barely ate any of it.
Wish me luck. He's very grumpy when he wants something and can't have it
How many oz of formula is he getting in a day?
I would wean him. Serve lots of protein rich foods like cheese, peanut butter, lunch meat.
I don't think it will do any harm to him to stay on his formula. Also try to not offer him his formula to soon before meals or that may be killing his appetite.
My son is the same, he is a very picky eater and its a pain to feed him. I weaned him off formula at 12 months but he is now 14 months and I put him on toddler formula just 2 weeks ago. I also was looking into multivitamins but I wasn't sure, im gonna talk to his pedi at his next appt in a few weeks
What about weaning off the infant formula and giving the toddler formula instead?
We have my son formula at night until he was 18 months, my husband wanted he to get all the vitamins etc. good stuff because he didn't eat very well.
I was worried about this when my dd turned one. She wouldn't eat very much at all. Her Dr said she's not eating because she's filling up on formula. I cut her formula down and slowly switched her to milk and now she eats 3 meals a day when before I was lucky if she would eat one small one.
The pediatrician recommended formula until 15 months. She said the longer the better
My doctor was fine with leaving both my girls on 1-2 servings of formula (in a cup or part of cereal) after their first birthday. They are both lean and picky eaters. He even pointed out that many adults drink formula as well (protein shakes and the like). At two, they can take a multivitamin w/iron so that's when I switch completely.
While the formula is supplying the nutrients hr isn't getting from food, I'd suggest you gradually wean. If you don't start now It'll be a pain. It wouldn't be bad if he ate well and had a couple oz after but he is filling up on the formula.
I'd wean him.
Formula is very filling.

DD (just turned 14 months) is still on formula as per her pediatrician. She is not a big solids eater (although she is finally rid of her gag reflex and is starting to eat more). The ped is going to reevaluate DD at her 15 month check up to see if the formula is no longer needed.
