Do you.. When playing games with your kids do you let them win?

Sometimes.

Heck no! My 3 yr old spanks my butt in Candyland. I am lucky to win one ???? and she gloats like an afult.

No! When we are playing a challenging game, sometimes I will go easy on them. Most of the time though, my 6 year old kicks my butt so I have to try my hardest. I win once in a blue moon!

Nope. You can't always win. I want my children to know that.

I firmly believe you learn nothing from winning and everything from losing. And that means whether it's a board game or a national competition. But it also depends on age. Would I let my 3 year old win at Go Fish a couple times? Yes, of course. But teaching children how to learn as well as being graceful losers starts early.

Sometimes it depends on how he is acting out. Sometimes he shows off and thinks his the best, So I put him back in his place and then tell him there is always room for improvement?

Nope never. I know it sounds mean but when they throw a fit about winning we talk to them and use it as life lessons. We also talk about sassy winners and sore losers as we call it. Not to boast and tease about winning as well as no tears on losing. They have gotten so much better about good sports all around and usually kick my booty

At first. But once I've explained and shown them what to do a few times- it's on. I'm bout to Mario Kart all over their butts. "You think this is a game, kid?? You know how long I've been playing this s*** ??"

Personally I would've let him win one of those games, and then taught him not to brag and be a sore winner. I know I don't like playing with someone much bigger and smarter than me and losing every single time, that's not much fun. But I definitely wouldn't let him win every time either, he needs to learn that it's okay to lose too. It's like gambling, you gotta give them small wins in order to keep them coming back for more lol

I love pp's comment to lose with grace and win with humility. Now that I have boys and their dad is hellbent on getting them into sports, I'll definitely have to keep that phrase in mind. *Inserts into Mommy files*

Nope not at all. But he can win at something on his own so it works out good.

My son has a hard time losing. He thinks he's the best at everything. He's so hard on himself to always win and is devastated when he doesn't

He just finished playing 4 games of air hockey with his Grandpa and lost all 4. He's moping around all sad. I try to teach him it's part of life to win and to lose.

Not usually. Do I play as hardcore as with my brother? Nope but I don't let them win all the time. I certainly don't tolerate cheating either. Its a matter of teaching that you don't always win but you can still have fun.

But gotta teach him he's not some special winning snowflake. You win some you lose lots. It's important to have a child who can handle losing a game. Otherwise they'll become a nightmare when they enter the real world.
