Lefty or Righty

I think my son is a lefty. He's a month and a week and grabs with his left hand. He rarely uses his right.

DH was born a lefty but the school he went to 'corrected' him. Probably explains his terrible handwriting. I'm glad they aren't so archaic these days. My girls could go either way and I'd hate to have them treated differently.

Drama, growing up, my cousin and I were the only lefties in a family of 40+. I also learned how to do several things right handed because of my environment. But with 3 out of 5 of us being lefties we are dominant in our own home now. It's really strange for my dh to be the odd one out!

I'm both lol. I'm just weird. Though I prefer my right, both write pretty much the same way.

Yaya the only thing I do with my left hand is write/draw

I was the only lefty in the family so I do everything else 'the right handed way' ?

I'm a lefty and so are 2 of my boys. Being left handed doesn't cause delays. I didn't know for sure with my oldest until he was almost 4. He would color with his left but eat with his right hand up until that point.

I'm a lefty but my right arm is better for getting blood drawn

I don't know why you would think being left handed would mean development issues, it's not a disability to write with your left hand you know. I can't believe how many people still think such things.

I would hate to be anything other than a lefty!

I'm a lefty as well. I love being a left hander. But binders with the huge rings have always been my own personal hell.

@ jwright, my left arm is better for blood taking but I'm right handed

I was ambidextrous until first grade when my teacher told my mom I needed to choose because she didn't wanna teach me cursive for both hands.. :/ so I chose to be a lefty! :) and I have no developmental issues! Lol I graduated valedictorian of my high school class and am now an engineer! Soo I don't think you have anything to worry about! Haha

Being a lefty is fine!! I don't know why you would think there might be something wrong with him because he is left handed

I can't even tell if my son is right or left handed at 3. He still uses both freely... It's very early to tell

Way too early to know.

Way too early all my kids used both until around 2-3. My son is a left and I'm pretty sure my daughters (almost 4 & 2) will both be right handed.

It's too early to tell. We thought for sure our dd would be a lefty, she's 16 months now and she's definitely a righty.

Babies are supposedly born right or left handed but it doesn't really set/become permanent until later.

Too early.. I couldn't tell until both mine were around 2

Left handedness doesn't cause development issues at all. it is slightly early to tell but signs can show themselves pretty early on we just can't be 100% certain till after around 18months- 2 years

I'm left handed as is my lil sister and we actually developed faster than our siblings (I'm 1 of 5) but idk if that's because of being left handed or just us in general

Oh ok. My other 2 used their right hands from the beginning so I found it strange. Time will tell I guess

My pediatrician said you usually can't tell until 2.

The chiropractor that worked on DD2 told me that kids are born pretty symmetrical and shouldn't favour one side or the other until they're around 2 or so.

I noticed my daughter was left handed before she was a year old, not as early as a month. She doesn't have any developmental differences to my other daughters.
