@braindeadmama, yeah it’s rare for me too! My mom was trying to homeschool 3 kids all 4 grades apart. We had videos we watched though so at least I was actually being taught by an actual teacher.
It’s awesome being able to spend the majority of time with your baby! I love it.
@mommaofjais, that’s awesome! I rarely ever find other homeschooled kids lol. I feel like i never learned anything 😂😂😂 and thank you!! I hope someday i get to, too! Until then, I’ll just enjoy my time with my kid.
@braindeadmama, girl I can relate so much! I was homeschooled as well and then 7-12th went to a private Christian school that wasn’t even accredited. In fact, they actually taught us the WRONG math for 4 straight months. We didn’t learn anything 😂

Lmao, i wouldn’t have had to take so many classes if i was actually good at math 😂 fun fact: i was homeschooled from first grade to junior year and my mom couldn’t teach me math. So when i started high school, i had little to no math experience or knowledge. I, to this day, have never even learned geometry 😂 and if you asked me anything about any of the math classes i took, i still couldn’t tell you anything 😂😂😂 and it’s super rare that you find something you love so much in life. So I’m really happy for you!!!!

That’s a huge age range! That in itself is definitely exhausting. I’m glad you found a passion career though. It’s rare that you find someone that loves their job. And I’m terrible at math, that’s where all of the hard work came in 😂😂😂 i took six math classes i think. I just want to be out in the field working, that’s my passion job. Just collecting samples lol
@braindeadmama, it’s exhausting. Especially since the ages range from 5-18 and I have to constantly switch gears. But I really believe I was born to do it.

15-20 students back to back 😫 you’re my hero. That’s so many! I’m sorry you had to quit, but you will get to do it again soon or wherever you go! And that is awesome that you can take your son! Not many jobs are like that! And i would like to use it, but there isn’t much in my area. I didn’t think it through lol. I started out in speech pathology and i hated it. I just loved biology so i went with it. And it took a lot of work to get a degree in it. Maybe someday I’ll find something. Until then I’m happy being a server three days a week lol
@braindeadmama, I get to set my own if I’m teaching outside of a studio because I make all the schedules. But when I work at a studio my bosses tell me when every student is. And girl....I’ll have 15-20 students back to back in one night. 😩 but I love it. I had to temporarily quit because I’m moving away during my husband’s deployment but I can’t wait to get back to it. Thankfully I can actually bring my son with me.
And maybe you’ll use it sometime in the future when your little one is bigger? That kind of degree seems like you’d have to have a real passion to get.
That’s awesome. I figured you’d make a lot more doing one on one. Do you get to set your own hours too? And that’s awesome that it helps you so much! Plus, it’s always nice to know that you can use it to teach in a school if other things don’t work out! And i have a degree in ecology and environmental biology. I would use it and i would love to use it. But, i don’t ever want to leave my hometown, and i didn’t want anything full time so that i could spend as much time as i could with Sawyer

Yes, I knew nothing about music theory or how to even approach trying to teach someone, especially a child, anything about music. My teachers were very hands on and it helped a lot that I taught lessons while I was in college as well.
What is your degree in?
Well with private lessons you’d probably make more too. At least i would think. I would rather one on one too. Do you think that your degree helped you? I have a degree and i don’t use it at all 😂 so I’m just curious
@braindeadmama, I do teach. I teach private which usually doesn’t require a degree depending on what music studio you work for. But I can use my degree to teach in a school. But I’d rather one on one.
I think i started lessons around 10. But it’s awesome that you are mostly self taught! That’s rare. Do you give lessons now? And may i ask if you use your degree?
@braindeadmama, I think I started at 12 but I self taught. I didn’t take lessons until I was 18. And then I went to college for music education so I did nothing but play.
Isn’t it? Music is such an awesome thing. It’s universal and I believe children (and anyone, really) can learn so much from it.
I started pretty young, so i don’t remember anything now. Itd be like starting fresh. I can’t wait until my little is old enough too! It’s a blast watching him do anything and he loves music already

Lol it’s too late, i can’t afford an instrument. I’ll live vicariously through Sawyer when he is old enough to learn 😂 and i don’t blame you at all. I remember having to tote a keyboard around 😂😂😂

I wanted to learn guitar so I could actually bring my instrument with me to place and sing. It’s no fun toting a piano or keyboard around lol
I personally think guitar is hard in general 😂 i struggles and gave up. 😂 i loved playing piano, but i didn’t keep up with it because as a kid my parents always raved about my brother and never said anything about me. I regret it now though.

@mommaofjais, i know of 8 actually! I’m surprised i know so many. Normally it’s not that common. My brother learned how to play piano and guitar too. He was really musically inclined though.

@lovelily, yeah I do but even with it left handed, I can’t seem to follow right handed players on YouTube. I’ve got a few chords down. I just need more practice. I felt the same way with piano but it’s super easy now.
I just wondered if someone on here played that was left handed could help me lol
Do you have a left handed guitar? Hendrix and Cobain were lefties and learned to play right hand guitars upside down.
My mom tried to homeschool the 3 of us, and my little brother had learning disorders and got super frustrated and didn’t want to learn and she never forced it. And we never watched videos, i taught myself everything pretty much lol. And i love it too, i couldn’t imagine missing what he learns and how he acts everyday
