My 3 year old will be 4 on the 28th and he still goes to bed with a diaper. It's usually quite full in the morning. We restrict drinks before bed and dress him warmly so we are at a loss on what to do next. He's fully trained during the day.

Try not to worry. It's completely normal for children up to six not to be trained at night. Beyond that I would seek a doctor's help.

My son was 4 at the end of Sept. He used to wear pull ups to bed but was still wet in the mornings. I decided they were to go as was probably a little confusing for him as he was dry in the day. I started by no more drinks after 7. And I will still even now get him out of bed for a wee before I go to bed usually between 10-12 .even if he says he don't want to go he still goes when he gets there! He's not had any accidents yet altho I haven't left him all night by himself yet. Good luck xx

I think it's worth a shot and if it doesn't work then consult a dr .. Also try limiting or taking his fluid intake away before bedtime .. It could be that he's just not ready

Like a pp said he may not be ready. It's super common for children to need pull-ups or wet the bed. Their body just hasn't developed the part of the brain that wakes you up when you have to pee.

Makes a lot of sense. My husband gets on his case about peeing his diaper at night. I'm a little more understanding. I will share this with him. He also does not want me to wake him up to pee because he says he will not want to go back to sleep.

Many children have issues with bed wetting but this issue definitely affects boys more often. Many times it is because the bladder hasn't developed the ability to effectively communicate with the brain.

My brother had this issue and a urologist told my parents that it wasn't that my bro was being defiant or lazy, but a very common medical issue that kids grow out of and to be patient and sensitive to the issue.

Thanks. I have not woken him up to pee. I'm going to try it tonight.

Does he have to rush to the bathroom during the day when he has the urge? Could be that the sensation to go is not enough to wake him at night you could try waking him up at some point to bring him to the bathroom. There is also the possibility of a weak bladder. I would suggest talking to his Dr. about and see what they suggest.

Maybe he's not ready of a night to stop wearing diapers if he still wakes up quite full of a morning.

Have you tried taking him to the toilet during the night?

My son was fully trained at 2 1/2 as in sleeping with no pull up .. He's now 4 and had maybe 4 accidents since he's been potty trained 2 of them happened during his " sleep walks " to the toilet the other two happened when he was just extremely tired and didn't want to wake up lol

Edit* I stopped my sons fluid intake a hr at the least before bed time, brushed his teeth, and had him potty and then I would check on him a few hrs later wake him to use the bathroom and within a few weeks that was the normal routine he would wake up on his own and he was out of pull ups.

We bought training underwear for my dd. We cut off all fluids at 7:30. She sometimes has an accident, but it's way better than before!
