Anyone else get a, "Ohhh you're a great mom", and a "We love you so much, you deserve such and such", on mother's day but then on any other given day there is NO appreciation for anything you do? I'm so sick of feeling unappreciated and feeling like I am the only one who does anything! I don't even ask much of anything from my husband and kids, just to help a LITTLE. My oldest 4 kids each have ONE chore a day during the week plus their homework, and I only ask that my husband helps with the kids during the week and then help with the house only on Sundays, (our day for deep cleaning).. Do you any of you ladies think that is asking too much? Am I being ridiculous?? I just want to be appreciated and helped in keeping up with the house, especially since we are such a big family.. it's just too overwhelming for just me with no help at all. Sorry, I needed to vent.. my husband told me to stop griping about it earlier tonight and I think that's messed up for him to say when he doesn't do crap to help keep me from being so overwhelmed and stressed out.

Damn girl! We are one in the same. I got 4 boys, & married 8 years. My husband don’t tell me I look good, or call me when he’s out or even try to be affectionate WHAT SO EVER with me. I cook & clean... & despite his screwed up upbringing, WE are good parents because of ME! I am the damn glue that keeps this family together & it’s only hope that keeps me going...
Not gonna lie though- After 8 years being like this, that HOPE is getting snuffed out.

I don't think you're overreacting at all. Sit him down and lay out your expectations.

I don't feel it's an overreaction. Your children are all old enough to be doing chores daily. And your husband is an adult, and *should* ideally help out with the workload. Get a dry erase board, divide up the chores and lay out your expectations. For example... My two year old must pick up her toys before bed. Bring her dishes to the kitchen. Wipe down her table after meals (she attempts to do this; I don't expect perfection at two). She sees me clean constantly and "helps" with what she can. My 3 month old is a total freeloader, however 😜 . As for my husband. He's a lot like yours. He's a full time student and does the absolute minimum at home if he can help it. I've noticed that I created this problem by doing it all by myself for so long and for showing him that I am capable of it. But, just because I can doesn't mean I should. I'm working to involve him more by simply asking him "hey, can you _____". He always will do as I ask if it's a specific task. I don't like feeling like his mother, but it gets things done. And by repetition, he's started just doing certain things before I ask.
Moms really do hold the family together. I know your burnt out trying to do it all by yourself (because you're a good mom! You are doing everything you can to keep your household running, and it's coming at your own expense), and I hope that your husband will realize that and help out more. Your kids you can work with to get done what you need to, and it sounds like you are. But he has to figure this out and make changes that benefit you all.

And your babies should have more than one chore hun. Those kids need to learn how to do every chore so rotate the chorse so that no one is over whelmed and eveey one is pitching in. 2-3 chires per person instead of kids one dad one mom 10 ...

I didn't even get any of that on mother's day. I do everything for everyone. Anything I need comes last. All I want is a thank you sometimes. Or help out. But nope can't get that at all.

It could help if you'd put more chores on the kids and have husband help on Sundays, that way he doesn't have to clean after work, only help care for and spend time with the kids and you. And you won't be so overwhelmed.
Remember the kids rely on you to tech them everything they need to know to be independent adults whether they like it or not.
