How did y’all get your 17 month old to start actually trying to say words ? I feel like a 17 months she should be saying more and it’s making me feel like I’m not doing my part but she’s not even trying when I’m trying to teach her .

I know patience is the key but I’ve never had patience and this is irritating 🤦🏾‍♀️😭

Consistency is key. Repeating and pointing at the object will eventually get them to speak.

@kyriesmommy_, lots of babies get shy lol it’s perfectly normal (:

It could be a shyness thing or confidence thing addi I know when she started walking wouldn’t walk in front of anyone but me An zach for the longest time because she stumbled An fell a lot and it embarrassed it I feel like idk she didn’t show anyone else for the longest time until she was confident about it

I bet she’s just a little shy (:

@lost.sock.thief, maybe that’s what it is because she’ll talk to me more than anybody else. So when she actually says a word I’m excited and trying to show others and she just smiles until they leave and she’ll say it ... never thought of her being shy though lol

@kyriesmommy_, btw you aren’t doing anything wrong at all 💕 all babies develop differently and for all you know she could be incredibly shy, addi used to talk to herself when she thought we weren’t around more than she ever did in front of us it took a lot of time for her to get comfortable to talk to us she’s barley getting comfortable with talking in public

@kyriesmommy_, little baby bum is on Netflix an YouTube it’s helped my daughter a lot too

She’s been watching it since she was about 4 months and has been a very verbal baby

She’s been blabbering her words as long as I can remember it feels like

Not all of them are real but still

@kerryy23, I want to try the flash cards but everybody keeps saying “she’s to little”

Definitely don't worry. I did with my son at that age as he literally said about 3 words.. He's 2 in a fortnight and even now still isn't stringing sentences together.. He's coming on a lot by using flash cards, we just go through them every few days and I'll say the name of an animal for example and then the sound it makes..

He's getting the sounds more than the names but it means he's trying.. All kids are definitely different. I'm not concerned about his speech, he will get there eventually xx

I’m going to also recommend little baby bum. My kids both learned counting, letters, colours, shapes from watching. But try not to worry yet. They usually don’t intervene until closer to two. She will get it.

@kyriesmommy_ right! Now since she doesn't want to I have to make her see a speach therapist cause of this delay. The thing is she use to try then stopped. So idk what to do anymore

Same! Except she's two. She won't even try. She'd rather babble. And whine... It's super frustrating.

My baby watched “little baby bum” and they have some phonics songs and stuff and I think that’s where she learned a lot of her first words. Like I’ll go ah ah and she’ll say apple or bu bu and she’ll say bus because of a little song they do on there
