So on Friday I’m 6 weeks pp. but my drs apt isn’t until Tuesday. Do I have to wait for the apt to have sex or can I Friday?
Look wait if wish or you are worried at all. This is the information I have been given and studied. By no means should anyone do it before 6 weeks. This is only my advice for after 6 weeks.
@chantilly-lacebb @scruffy.nerf.herder Sorry, I should have been more clear. I was half asleep when I wrote that.
I'll start again. CS I won't comment, I have never had one, so I have no experience. I also didn't mean it's okay before 6 weeks.
However, I have had 2 natural births and neither of them have I had an internal examination or any examination for that matter. If you have reached 6 weeks, the bleeding has stopped and everything feels good then go ahead. All the doctors and midwives I have spoken to, have said they only do examination at 6 weeks if the patient feels any kind of discomfort down there or if bleeding is still occuring. Once the bleeding has stopped that generally means the cervix has healed and the additional time until 6 weeks is a precaution.
@mrs.p01, @chantilly-lacebb is correct, your cervix is still open which can introduce bacteria. Also, where the placenta was attached is essentially a healing wound (for both vaginal & C-section), so it's important to wait until dr says it's all healed.
@mrs.p01 it doesn't matter if it was C-section or vaginal. Your cervix is still open and you can still get an infection if your not in the clear. I've had two C-section and one vaginal. I had to wait all three times.
@mrs.p01 I had a vbac. I only had 3 stitches. He said it was a very minor tear.
Well it depends. Did you have natural or CS? If vaginal, did you get stitches?
Both times I didn't any sort of inspection. I was just asked how I felt and was told me I could have sex if I felt like it. In saying this, I had 2 vaginal deliveries, no complications and only 2 stitches the first time around.
After both of my kids at my 6weeks pp apt she just asked me how I was feeling. There was no examination. She said I was fine. However. I’d wait until your apt. And you see what your doc says.
