Does anyone else's LO hit themselves when they're mad or upset? My son has been realllly overly sensitive lately and the past 2 weeks, when he gets mad or upset or in trouble, he smacks himself in the head or will literally get on his hands and knees and hit his head on the floor and runs over crying. I don't know why this started but it's getting to the point where I'm getting worried that he's actually going to really hurt himself. If your advice is that he'll learn, please don't bother commenting 🙄

My son does it too, you’re not alone. I try to get him to take a few big deep breaths, move him to another space (like if we’re in the living room move to his bedroom) and once he’s calmed down a bit try to give him a word he can use for the feeling (ex: that sounded like you were angry or frustrated), so that he can learn how to say it rather than resort to hitting himself. The breathing and moving work well, naming emotions hasn’t helped yet but hopefully it will soon. I don’t know if that’ll help with your kiddo, but maybe it’s something to try. It’s scary when they do that, I’m sorry you’re going through it!

@mommyof1boyy no, you're fine. Saying he'll learn just doesn't help me is what I meant. I didn't know that this was a stage though 😩 I just feel bad because he literally will go out of his way to purposely wall into the kitchen where It's not carpet and hit his head on the tile floor.
