When I was 10 years old I got pains where my appendix was. The next morning I could barley move because I was in such pain. We went to Falmouth hospital and they did lots of tests. And said I had Crohn’s Disease. We didn’t know what it was. Falmouth hospital sent me and my mom to children’s hospital in Boston. My dad went back to the house to get stuff. And when I got to children’s hospital they removed my appendix. They said it had a little hole in it that was leaking bad things from my intestines into my body. We spent so long in the hospital. And then I developed an abscess on a part of my intestine. Then I had to be put out for a surgery to put a drain in for the abscess and to put in a PIC line IV. It went in a vein in my arm all the way to my heart. I couldn’t eat anything. I was getting everything I needed from the IV. Finally I could go home. I still had to have the PIC line IV and visiting nurses at the house. My dad learned how to run all the IV stuff. And have been dealing with Crohn’s disease ever since.
