Do you actually get prepared for labor ? Like do they teach you anything you need to know ahead of time ? Like how to breathe ? Or if this happens then you need to do this ?? I really don’t want to panic or put any stress on myself or the baby .

I got taught how to breathe and all 3 minutes before I started pushing. My doctor pretty much walk me through it during labor.

You can take a natural childbirth class and they will teach you. Breathing correctly is very important to handle the pain. I took a Lamaze class for my first child. My midwife is recommending a natural childbirth class this time around. It includes all of that. I found mine through a Google search.

@lulu85_18, definitely, because I’m going natural

@keilaa, you will get so much out of it. Most provide you will a booklet on exactly what to expect and the stages of labor.
What I wish they talked about more was products for recovery. I didn’t have the stuff beforehand. I had to send a family member to the store. I hate not feeling prepared with first-aid items I need.
For example, stocking up on tuck pads (store in the fridge so they’re nice and cold), ice packs, hemorrhoid cream, giant super absorbent pads or adult diapers, numbing spray for your perineum, stool softener because your first poo is awful without it, and the ever-so important peri bottle filled with warm water that you use every single time you pee so it won’t burn!
Maybe your nurses at the hospital are supposed to tell you these things, but mine were pretty terrible which is why I’m delivering at a different hospital this time.
