Have you ever yelled at your infant? I'm battling postpartum depression and rage is my biggest demon right now. I don't realize how angry I am or sound until its too late and I feel horrible everytime (the worst parent alive feeling). My husband doesn't understand the severity of my outbursts because he's rarly here for them when they're directed at our son, no he works 12hr shifts and gets all of the fun smiley play time with him.

I've been searching for help but to no prevail.

Has anyone here gone through something similar? How did/do you keep your blood from boiling? Taking a breath and counting to 10 just makes me feel like I'm doing the countdown for a massive emplossion.... So thats not helpful

@miniwolfe I've been trying to find a psychologist but all the ones I keep finding either don't take my insurance or their practice ia full- Or it's a guy who could not possibly understand the inner workings of the female brain. I'm also trying to find one that will help me cope with things without using prescription medication... I've been through the therapy Loop before -at one point they had me on 16 different medications -I would much rather I feel like myself unwell and learn new ways to cope then to not know how I feel at all due to the government numbing my brain

Ask for a family therapist. You can always request a female. Mine was fantastic.

You can just put your baby down in a safe place like crib, bassinet, pack n play; and walk away like to the bathroom for a minute or two and use that time to calm yourself down. I've had to do it cause I had ppd reeaaaalllly bad. I would cry a lot and didn't want her to see me.

For my first son my doctor told me I was his bitch. No joke, my fiance was laughing his ass off. I had depression, but I believe it came on from not having enough me time from being so tired. My first baby was a nightmare I would cry and wish I was dead. My fiance didn't care, he was a fucking dick. We'll come to find out I held him all the time so he would scream and cry and cry if I wasn't by him. I had no time to myself. If your baby is at the age of six month put nothing but toys around him and go take a shower. When he or she wakes up from a 20 min nap I say give it six min for him or her to calm themselves back to sleep. If he or she is still crying go in there and talk calmly to the baby and then walk away. And also of you have a vacuum turn it on and see if it calms him or her. It does mine. But with my first one I had to do all these. Because he was use to me being there so much I couldn't do the simplest things like use the bathroom.

And before you get to any of the points you are talking about you have to walk away. That's it walk away where you can not hear your baby cry.

@mimiroxy16 that's my case! Lack of sleep is a huge mental killer for me. The extensive depression with suicidal feelings makes me feel very alone- my hisband doesn't understand, and when blow my gasket his directipn he calls me a pshycopath and an unfit parent....

Thank you for all of your advise! Leaving him alone even when hes sleeping has been hard. We stay in one rented room with 2 cats so its hard to find any safe place where I know the kitties aren't going to mess with him. They're friendly but I dont need them waking him up or scaring him by jumping in his playpen while he sleeps and I attempt to pee. He has a breathing issue too that we're seeing a doctor for next week, its most likely sleep apnea, so theres that stress. I've gotten better about setting him down and letting him scream it out, which is working better as time passes. He goes from inconsolable to babbling and laughing, which is great for him, but makes me feel lile I'm not good at consoling him as a mother.

Wow its super reasureing to no longer feel alone in such matters!

@mrshodges yeah I cry alot too, and Mowgli usually becomes really calm and inquisitive when I start to show any kind of sadness like that..

Hope you can get in! Sometimes you just gotta wait as a new patient but if you stress that its an emergency maybe they'll visit you sooner.
