I do not understand taxes. How can I have payed in $2000 and only get back $600? I'm not claiming my daughter this year, her dad is. But I still feel like I should get more. I can't get earned income credit until I'm 25 unless I claim my daughter.

@girlmom. I have not filed yet. I started to with turbo tax but didn't finalize it but I also ran my info through the H&R block calculator and it said the same thing.

How are you doing them? Most places charge about $400 just to do them. And if you didn’t have health insurance; you are also getting an amount taken out.
