@rachokai I'm not debating either dear I was simply stating my knowledge of the landlord tenant agreement ( been on my own since I was 16 I have lots of experience in this)and that I believe it's against landlord tenant laws to do so. All I'm saying is its a red flag and I don't think it's a bad thing to let people know hey if by any reason they put on the lease that they can just walk whenever they want then you probably shouldn't sign that lease because it just causes trouble. I don't know who spit in your Wheaties this morning but smile 😆 it's all good.
@mommiesaremagical14 There was an emergency but the emergency was taken care of my maintenance while my boyfriend was home. She then came in after my boyfriend left.
@mommiesaremagical14, 👌🏽 I wasn’t debating preferences or what someone should sign, all I said is if you already did sign a lease that says they don’t have to give that much notice, than it is not illegal to do as the lease says.

@rachokai if my memory suits me it is against landlord tenant law anywhere to not give your tenants 24 to 48 hours notice under the rights of the tenant privacy is one of them which requires the landlord to give notice 24 to 48 hours notice before entry unless of course it's an emergency. If anybody ever comes across a lease that doesn't say anything about the 24 to 48 hour notice or says outright that the landlord can come by whenever he wants should run away and run away fast that is just asking for trouble. I'd prefer my landlord to not come walking in while I'm in/getting out of the shower.
@yashira.catalan, I would send her a letter or email (so it’s in writing) saying something along the lines of “oh this date you left a note in my apartment without asking to enter regarding an issue that seemed to have been already resolved. The lease states you can enter without consent during emergencies only, and at that time it was no longer emergent. Because of this I’m request that you mail me any future correspondences instead of leaving them inside of my apartment”
@yashira.catalan, she can use the pipe bursting to her advantage as an emergency no way to fully prove she already entered before hand. Best to let it go for now and if you are really concerned install some cameras. About the pipe unless she is charging you for damages over something out of your control then bring it up.
@rachokai @alejandra1x The leasing only says she has to give me a 24hr notice and that she may enter without notice only if it is an emergency. There was a broken pipe and it was leaking to the apartment below mine. Maintenance came in and fixed it while my boyfriend was home but then she came in after my boyfriend left and left me a note regarding the water damage downstairs basically blaming me for it when it wasn't my fault but she never said she came in nor did she call/messaged me to let me know she did.
I’m not sure if there’s any laws regarding it, but we rent a duplex and my lease specifically states the landlord may only enter our house without consent in an emergency (like if a pipe burst or something) otherwise we have to be home or he has to wait for us to okay it. Maybe double check if there’s anything written in your rental agreement?
