I failed my 1 hour glucose test and then had to take the 3 hour I wasn’t allowed to eat after midnight or drink anything not even water , I ended up passing that test , if you fail your 3 hour the doctor will put you on a special diet like no pasta bread soda etc

@larubia2723, you are better off sticking to water and no high in sugar items until the 3 hour test. The night before your 3 hour test you can’t have ANYTHING. ONLY water. Originally my one hour test was high but that’s because my fat ass ate a bag of Hersey kisses the night before. I took my 3 hour test and results were normal. So don’t worry yet.

@larubia2723 , I have gestational diabetes, it's not just sugar that you need to watch, my specialist has me pay attention to carbs, I have to test my blood sugar 2 hours after breakfast, lunch and dinner and also when I wake up. Breakfast should be 30 carbs, lunch and dinner 45 carbs and I can have snacks between each that should be around 15 carbs. Each meal/snack should have approx 2 hours in between. It has really opened my eyes to the way I was eating. If you blood sugar stays high and is high at the time of delivery, once the cord is cut, the baby can go into a bit of a shock from lack of sugar, blood pressure drops, heart rate drops, can be very scary. I've changed my entire diet and not been elevated in over 2 weeks. It will be worth it for our babies tho. Feel free to message me with any questions. My doc didn't even have me take the 3 hour because I totally bombed the 1 hour. He wanted me to get it corrected immediately so prevent strain on baby so I would say managing it sooner than later is best.

Even if you end up having gestational diabetes (which I pray that you do not), it won’t necessarily mean that your baby will have diabetes. It just means you’ll have to cut back sugar and carbs.

My mom had GD with me. She had to check her blood sugar, monitor her diet, and ended up getting induced with me. I do not have diabetes. She now has diabetes though - 33 years later. It can put you at risk for diabetes later on in life even if your GD goes away.

@larubia2723, You’re not being selfish, a craving is a craving and sometimes needs to be satisfied as long as it’s not too much. &She won’t be born with diabetes as long as you are careful and eat better than usual. If your doctor diagnoses you with GD that only means you have to cut all sweets, and sugars, soda, juices, and processed foods for the rest of your pregnancy... usually gestational diabetes will go away after your baby is born, but if you’re not careful she could develop regular diabetes in the future when she’s older. All you really have to do is watch your sugar intake, and hopefully you don’t have to get insulin infusions depending on how high your sugar levels are! 🙊

@malainaheka23 if my babygirl was gonna have diabetes or what was gonna happen cuz after the glucose i been drinkin soda here n there is that selfish

Not just soda, and juice. It also includes sweets, processed foods, etc... if you fail your 3 hour test and your doctor diagnoses you with GD, then they’ll most likely put you on a strict diet.

Just means you failed the first test and have to re take it again. To be on the safe side watch what you eat and try to avoid excess sugar.

It means your one hour sugar test cane back high and they want to make sure you don’t have diabetes

Oh ok so yea you failed it so if you fail the 3 hr you have gestational diabetes which doesn’t necessarily harm the baby but if you don’t care for yourself baby can be really large and may also be born with diabetes

You’re going back for 3 hr so you failed the one hour maybe but it sounds like you didn’t even have it which makes no sense BUT after 12am you cannot have anything to eat or drink except water until after testing is done

A glucose test is where they make you drink a sugary drink and you have to wait an hour and they will draw your blood to see if you have gestational diabetes. You are suppose to fast before your glucose test, so no food or soda or juice, or just anything super high in sugar about 8 hours before it. It won’t hurt your baby, which is why they are doing it, because if it would likely harm baby they wouldn’t make you do it.

Also if my baby is in any harm cuz of it or if my 3 hour test comes high will it affect my baby
