I have mentioned a lot of my issues here in this app but what I will post tonight has been bothering me and my husband for two years now as soon as our children were born. (2yrs old next month & 6 months old today.) I am Filipino and he is white American. In Filipino culture, if a baby is mixed with a white they expect his or her to be blonde with brown eyes or to look exactly like the white and they will not appreciate the looks of a child if she is more asian looking. Hands down people adore my kids they say they are cutest ever however, they have to always add they look Asian 100 percent though. It annoys me all the time not because I am ashamed I am Asian hell no I am proud but the way they say it I feel like they mean something else trust me filipino culture they do!! This should not stress me out but it does all the time. Anyone in here who can give me a word to finally let go of this non sense?

People are always going to make comments we don’t like, but maybe people don’t mean it in a bad way.

In your case your genes came out the dominant ones. They should be proud of that too. Not everyone whos mixed will look white. Ugh!
In my culture, I’m Mexican, they have a saying “mejorar tu sangre” meaning bettering your blood by giving better genes to your little one. I find it ridiculous. Because you can’t choose who you fall in love with based on looks.
