...this is TMI but I really need some advice. looking for ASAP answers...
I have bacterial vaginutis and was givin metronidizale 500mg to take 2x daily for 7 days. it is "caution recommended" for breastfeeding. pharmacist said if I do take it - look for diarrhea or oral thrush in little. I was supposed to be on this medication back when I had the stomach flu. anyways...now this infection seems to be getting worse and its more of a pain/ irritation.
my friend gave me the cream version of the medication called clindamycin phosphate vaginal cream. it doesnt expire until April 30 2019. ahe just got it in november but she didnt use it cause she used the pills instead.
I have called the Dr. ive talked to two pharmacists. the dr wasnt in the office and hasnt called me back. (I called last week).
how bad is oral thrush ??? also, (ill be calling pharmacy again this morning when they open) my son sleeps for about 11- to 1/2 hrs at night...could I take both of the 2 pills at once at night when he goes to sleep so it can be out of my system by the time he nurses in the morning???
thanks...
the effects that it has on infants so far is diarrhea and oral thrush. my son is 2 monyhs shy of being a year so his body can process things easier than a newborn and most of the research thats being done is on newborn infants as far as ive noticed... @santistevanmommie
@littleone23, I think if you take it after he goes to bed you should be fine. I don’t know the exact metabolic time frame but if there were to be any in your milk it would be in small traces. Oral thrush isn’t too bad either. There’s over the counter meds for oral thrush as well.
