@kaytibug2009 I worked with doctors and never heard one of them nor an LC that specializes in breastfeeding say this but okay 🤷 oh well.

@beemommyof3 I said she just needed 8oz every time she breastfeeds. Every doctor has said that a breastfeeding mother should drink more than the normal 64oz a day. They should drink at least 8oz every time they breastfeed. That's for normal people. I've talked with several different doctors and they've all said the same thing about drinking the water for normal people.

@kaytibug2009 I assumed so but I wasnt sure. I wouldn't tell another mother to drink all that water if it isnt necessary is all. Especially if you have a medical condition stopping you from keeping water or whatever.

@beemommyof3 and yes it's called a medical condition where your body does not stay hydrated anymore.

@beemommyof3 I do as my Doctor says to. Especially to help keep me out of the hospital. @melody_momof5 I know what EBF means. My daughter who is 6 months old tried 1 tablespoon of cereal mixed with 2 tablespoons of breastmilk for a week. It did not work so as once again she is EXCLUSIVELY BREASTFEED.

@melody_momof5 I think she may have a more serious underlining issue if she is always dehydrated. 🤷

@kaytibug2009 If you drink 8oz every time you feed your child on top of the 64 oz you are supposed to drink then you would die of water intoxication or at least I would. I feed my daughter 14 to 16 times a day. I would be sick with almost 300 ounces of water a day

@melody_momof5 everyone is different. I breastfeed exclusively as well however I have to drink almost a gallon and a half of water a day just to keep myself from passing out. My body stays in a constant state of dehydration and yet I still have a perfectly good supply of milk. I just make sure to drink tons of water so I don't pass out and end up in the hospital.

No amount of water or no type of food can do anything for supply. You should eat and drink to thirst and hunger but you dont need to drink an ocean of water or a field of oats. You should just drink water because it is good for you.

@melody_momof5 it really does though. Breast milk technically comes from the blood in your body transferred through everything in the breasts to make milk for the baby. Considering the fact that your body is made up of mostly water, if you don't drink enough water then you will still continue to make breast milk and it will dehydrate your body and could hurt you a lot. Possibly kill if not taking care of. I found out that the hard way.

@melody_momof5 actually it's worse when your breastfeeding and you don't drink water. Not only do you need to drink 8 oz of water for yourself but you're supposed to drink 8 oz of water every time you breastfeed so that away it helps to keep you hydrated and you don't pass out from dehydration trying to feed your child.
