When I mix breast milk and formula do you still add water into it?
@jskidsmom, thank you I’m going to have to get these
@beemommyof3, ya, breastfeeding is a love hate relationship for me
@alyssa_hoffmaster yeah I would still breast feed her once or twice a day and then the rest of the time she got formula or the mix until she was completely off of the breastmilk. She actually refused breastfeeding and only wanted the bottle.
Yeah. that is what they do for the first few months. I didn't do much either
@beemommyof3, ya, I could pump at work. I take her with me to work most times but I don’t get anything done because she’s constantly eating.
Try the silicone pump while your nursing her. It will catch your let down. Thats how I made most of the bags in my fridge
@thegermanmommy, ya I haven’t tried enough but I think it will work better if someone else gives her a bottle because with me she just screams and cries
Just hang in there and be persistent, it gets easier :)
Okay. well if you speak to HR they have to allow you pump time if you wish to continue. A breastfed baby only needs 1 to 1.25 ounce per hour so every 2 to 3 hours would be 3 ounces if pace fed correctly
I used to mix my breastmilk with formula, when we first started my daughter on formula. I didn't 3/4th formula with water and 1/4 my breastmilk. It helped my daughter transition really well and it helped with any constipation. I asked her pediatrician if it was ok that I do it that way and he said yes. We only did that for a few days before she was completely off of the breastmilk. Also we didn't do that at every feeding. We did it like every 3rd feeding.
@renelei, ya I figured I should probably pump most of the day but I won’t be home all day tomorrow lol the struggle😩
@beemommyof3, because I’ve gone back to work and I haven’t pumped enough, I don’t have enough time with work and my sons and everything that’s going on
I didn’t start until he was drinking just bottles of bm for a few days though before that point he knew it was in there and refused them
I’m sorry :/ I had to start off with like 1/2 an ounce of formula In like 4 ounces of bm and slowly increase. Idk how much your baby girl eats at a time though.
@renelei, ya I wasted a couple ounces the other day 😩
@beemommyof3, I’m trying to get her to drink formula but she screams and cries
I mix the formula first and then mix them together, unless I know he’s going to eat a lot I usually will do small amounts, I would rather have to make more than throw bm away especially with how little I’m getting
yes you would mix the formula first but i would give them seperate. just incase she doesn't finish. Formula has to be thrown away, breastmilk doesn't
@muvaepiphany, I’m trying to transition her over because she’s having a really hard time with it
My pediatrician said to follow the instructions on the formula box or just give breastmilk
