CAN SOME ONE EXPLAIN THE GROUP B STREP TEST WHAT IS IT AND WHAT IF YOU HAVE IT IM CONFUSED ON WHAT IT IS

Don’t worry! Really don’t stress yourself out. It sounds scary but your baby will be fine as long as you get the antibiotic. Just cause you test positive in one pregnancy doesn’t always mean you will in your next. Don’t read to much into it cause you’ll only pick out at certain things and misunderstand and stress yourself out. Just know you and baby will be fine ! 😊

I actually tested positive for group strep b so they had to give me antibiotics for it so I didn't pass it to baby. You can't pass it to anyone except your baby.

@shanicenettles93, but it’s not anything to be scared about. It’s taken care of right when you get admitted I think all my nurses asked me like 3 times all of some information they needed

@shanicenettles93 dont stress urself. its a bacteria we all have its just harmful for babies passing thru. well nt all bt most ppl & it comes from intestines. if ur dr tested u when ur nt pregnant it would be a shoulder shrug bt because u are pregnant if u test positive they have to administer antibiotics. like @jsco said if u dont test they give u antibiotics anyway. like 85% of pregnant woman test positive. i did both pregnancies and my babies were healthy and so was i. i had c sections tho bt the 1st time was an emergency and i didn't get to test so i got antibiotics anywau

@shanicenettles93, no. You’ll get antibiotics once you get admitted to the hospital it is kind of considered a slight complication.

@shanicenettles93, well you could test positive for it while not pregnant but it’s not harmful to us only babies. That’s why we’re tested for it so that the right measures can be taken to make sure the baby stays good I don’t really know how it happens just happens

I think they do the test around 36 weeks. They check before you have the baby. And if you don't get the test done they will give you the medicine anyways to be cautious

@shanicenettles93, it causes no harm to you or the baby unless you don’t get antibiotics while in labor but you will i was strep b positive and as soon as I was admitted my antibiotics were given to me through my Iv.

I wouldn't worry about it. If you have it they will make sure everything is taken care of when you arrive in hospital!

It's a bacteria that a lot of people have in their intestine. It's totally harmless to us but it can cause infection in babies. If you test positive for it, they will give you medicine while in labor to protect the baby. They take special measures to make sure the baby is ok. Don't Google things lol it's your worst enemy

They swab your vagina and butt. It's a bacteria. If you're positive for it they give you some antibiotics while giving birth and usually there's no complications
