Is there any mommies out there that kept their new born attached to their placenta after they where born? I have a question how to do I go about keeping mines? And can I take it home with him still attached? Like how does it work?
It’s a thing though, people do it and have no problems. I just wouldn’t myself. But telling your doctor to wait clamping or cutting the cord an extra 5 mins has been shown to have extra benefits
You gotta keep like herbs and stuff on the placenta all the time if you do a lotus birth I think
Personally I think delayed cord clamping is a great idea. I wanted to do it but we had some complications and couldn’t. I wouldn’t do a lotus birth because there hasn’t been any research to show leaving it attached for longer than like 10 mins has any health benefits. Plus then you have to worry about infections and the placenta going bad and stuff like that
@kiyalovingmines, usually right when the baby comes out the umbilical cord is clamped and cut but there have been studies that show that the cord cutting should be delayed by a few mins. So instead of cutting right away they wait about 5-10mins. Then there’s something called a lotus birth? I think.... where the Mom delivers the baby, leaves the cord intact, delivers the placenta, and leaves it attached to the baby. They even take the baby home with the placenta/umbilical cord still attached
Ask your doctor ! My hospital does delayed clamping as normal practice.
