I hate not knowing if she’s getting anything while I’m trying to breastfeed her.. she just sucked on one nipple for a good 30+ minutes and the other nipple for 20-30 minutes. 😭😭

Same they had me hand expressing and seeing some colostrum come out and then immediately put him on. That really worked for me .

It’s hard in the beginning but she’s getting enough! They say they’re supposed to eat every two hours but my daughter cluster fed right away. As long as you give her your boob your going to produce more. And before you know it you’ll be able to feel your milk dropping before she even starts crying to be fed. (: stay strong mama! You got this! You’ll feel way better once your milk comes in for sure. Mine came in on day 4 (:

@briimoe, I’m trying but because she’s not getting anything she’s screaming so I’m giving her some formula and going to keep trying. She latches but then unlatches. I just want her to be able to eat

Breastfeeding was so confusing and tricky for me at first. I had no idea whether she was actually getting anything and if so how much. Just be patient and remember that your body is made to feed your baby. So as long as she is latching, let nature take it’s course. (Once your milk comes in you’ll KNOW it, but for now the colostrum is what your baby needs). And don’t ever hesitate to contact a lactation consultant!

@acrdrgz, I have but with her screaming bloody murder, I wanted her to get something to fill her tummy. I’m still going to try to breastfeed though,

Well just remember that “fed is best.” If you have to supplement in the beginning that is OK! The best thing you can do for your baby is feed her. Hang in there!

When my son was jusdt born he would say for up to 45 minutes and I was always convinced it was because he was starving. A lot of times they fall asleep and use you as a pacifier. It's all normal and it takes a while to get get used to. Supplementing is perfectly ok. After she nurses, offer an oz of formula, if she goes crazy and drinks it then you'll know she was still hungry! Relax and try to enjoy your first few days !
