My big boy eating table food for dinner (: he LOVED his peaches...they were the first thing to go. I definitely thought this was going to be a much messier experience Lol.
Just trust your instincts. You know what he is ready for. Youre his mom no one else. You can squish up peaches or pears an stuff. Pears are dereks favorite and the easiest. Maybe try pears? Unsweetened applesauce and soft carrots are good too.
@littleone23, I’ve never given Noah the stage one foods I didn’t even really know there was a stage one but I guess that makes sense 😂 he’s been on stage 2 since he was 4 months old. I tried the little bite ones your talking about and he STILL gagged on it but not as much. I actually just used the last of his infant wic checks so he will no longer get purée foods from them he’ll just get the fruits and veggies one so maybe I can do something with the fresh stuff and help him along better. It’s just so frustrating and makes me sad that he does know how to chew but he gags once he swallows and then everyone freaks out and tell me “NOPE! He can’t have that!”
@noahs.mommy thats okay. Just treat it as you woukd when he is younger. You can also talk to your pediatrician. If giving him baby food, use the meats too. There are different stages up to 3. 3 is puree but chunky bits. 2 is thicker and 1 is fine. My son loves zucchini (like me) and its soft. Although he has to chew it. I would just work him into it as you woukd a 4 month and progress. Ask your pediatrician what to do as well.
@littleone23, my son can’t eat table food without gagging because my mom basically forced me to not give him table food so now he gags on everything he eats if it’s super soft and just melts in your mouth he’ll still gag if he has the SLIGHTEST bit to big of a bite of mashed potatoes he gags. He can hardly eat puffs or those cookies your talking about but he does eat them. I do have to feed him myself or he shovels his food in his mouth and chokes but I’m fine with doing that. I was never able to teach him to eat table food before so now he’s almost 11 months old and still basically strictly eating purée food. I have NO idea what to do about it my son is also very advanced but he was like I said kind of forcefully delayed in the table food department
He has used them but...I'm not sure how to reach him to really use them haha mostly because I'm impatient and just want him to eat his food haha he taps when he wants more though. Hes very smart 😊 I am blessed
He gagged maybe twice because of the potatoes. He has his 3rd tooth coming in but he is really good about chewing. He ate those peaches that big and he was fine. His first food was the rice rusk teether things and...honestly hes 2 months advanced(if I go by the book) and he took to it easily. The food when pressed down is mushy so its easy for him to chew as well as swallow. Hes been feeding himself with his hands for a couple months now too... Hes already almost walking so ive even given him the granola cereal bars for babies and I just give him his cup of water (he doesnt really like the sippy cup...never wanted the bottle) to help wash it down if he needs.i have yet to teach him about using utensils.
