I know it's different from state to state, but maybe you guys can help me out?
I'm on Medicaid for my pregnancy. Do I need to go ahead and fill out paperwork for my new baby to be on Medicaid when he's born, or does it automatically transfer to him?
I can just call the Medicaid office too, but those ladies always treat you like the biggest idiot in the world for not just knowing this stuff 🙄
@joanna.davis Medicaid does register a baby but then after they are bron you call to register the baby fully so they get their vard
At the hospital they gave me a couple papers to take with me to the pediatrician to get the temporary card too.
My babies were automatically transferred by the hospital when they were born. I got my temporary card from my pediatrician at our first appointment for Harley and then her medical and state benefits cards in the mail after a couple weeks. Never had to fill out anything.
@rola With my last pregnancy I had private insurance, and the Medicaid office berated me for not getting his SS card and signing him up for Medicaid BEFORE he was born.
Yes once the Medicaid office receives a copy of his birth certificate they will transfer him to Medicaid. I just got the letter on all of this yesterday. Most states will keep him under yours for the first month though as well.
They give you paper work at the hospital to fill out
