At how many months did you ladies start giving cereal with baby's milk?

I tried it once at 4 months when we were trying to just start introducing cereal but my boy hates bottles so he wouldn't even sneeze at it.

We put it away after that and started spoon feeding cereal at 5m.

I mixed cereal with my breast milk because I wasn’t pumping enough

@mommyofmessiah-marie yeah. Breast milk is healthier but not as satisfying. Mine always acted like she was starving. Lol

@juliaschade41 both but mainly breast. If I'm at work and haven't left enough then dad has to give her formula

@mommyofmessiah-marie if she's breastfeed, it would make sense as to why she's always hungry. Breast milk doesn't have as many calories as formula does. I know this from experience cuz I tried breastfeeding for a little bit. She's much happier on formula. Just wish WIC provided the one she actually liked. But it does keep her happier longer.

@mommyofmessiah-marie yeah I agreed with them on the no cereal in the bottle thing and her being too young for that, but not with the ounces. Does she eat formula or breast milk?

I wouldn't recommend cereal unless it was for reflux mama. I do think that's way too much for her in my opinion. Can you try pace feeding with extra burps in between? Maybe even a slower flowing nipple may help.

@mommyofmessiah-marie lol I think we did have this conversation. Lol how much did yours weigh at birth?

@juliaschade41 I think we had this conversation before lol. Yes all babies are different !! I'm not gonna starve my baby just because somebody else's baby eats less lol

07.11.2017 Нравится Ответить

@parismommmy oh I agree with the cereal part for sure. But the ounces at least for my baby, she would be starving. Lol she weighed over 8 pounds at birth. That might have something to do with it.

07.11.2017 Нравится Ответить

@juliaschade41, yeah true of course all babies are different. I just disagree with giving cereal in a bottle and giving cereal before it’s time for the baby to eat solids 4-6 months

07.11.2017 Нравится Ответить

@parismommmy girl my baby would screaming until she couldn't breathe anymore if i was only giving her 1 to 2 ounces. That's such a small amount. All babies are different lol plus mine was big at birth anyways lol

07.11.2017 Нравится Ответить

@juliaschade41, lol didn’t I block you cause we never agree 😂. But From what I was told that’s the amount they should be drinking their tummy is still tiny. My baby was drinking 4-5 oz when she was 3 and 4 months not 1 🤷🏽‍♀️

07.11.2017 Нравится Ответить

@mommyofmessiah-marie girl its not too much food. 1 to 2 ounces would starve them at this point. Feed your baby lol my doc said it was fine. Mine eats 4 to 5 ounces every 3 hours as do most of the women on this app do. You're doing fine.💖

07.11.2017 Нравится Ответить

It could also be a growth spurt like @t143, said I totally forgot about that. I think 5-6 oz is a bit much for just a month old baby. My baby is 5 months and she’s having 7 oz

07.11.2017 Нравится Ответить

@parismommmy girl you're crazy lol my almost 2 month old eats 4 to 5 ounces every 3 hours and has been doing that forever. My doc said it was perfectly fine. 1 to 2 is starving them they would be screaming constantly.

07.11.2017 Нравится Ответить

@drewandvaehsmommy actually a lot of us on here with over 1 month olds eat 4 to 5 ounces every 3 hours. My doctor said its perfectly fine. 1 to 2 ounces are for newborns. Our babies are growing they need way more than that.

It could be a growth spurt. My daughter practically stayed on my boob while I was breastfeeding. I don’t agree with cereal in general but if you think it’s okay, I suggest wait until the baby is 6 months. And be given with a spoon. Their tummies are sensitive.

Just like the other ladies said. It’s not recommended at all to put cereal in a bottle (unless the doctor said so for reflux ). And it doesn’t actually keep them fuller or sleep longer. It’s empty calories. Your baby is too young still for cereal or anything beside formula or breast milk. And your baby should be eating 1-2 oz not 5-6 oz that’s way too much for their little tiny tummy

@mommyofmessiah-marie your body is just getting use to producing milk so it's takes a while to actually pump alot of bottles. Having her nurse will bring in more milk because their suck is better than a pump. Try pumping every 2 hours. It'll tell your boobs oh bbay wants to eat so make more.

@drewandvaehsmommy I don't believe all babies are the same. Her doctor hasn't said its bad. And Im pretty sure I know her hunger cries. And yes I'm back to work. ...i pump as much as I can but injustice don't get a lot . I try to leave two 5oz bottles everytime I'm gone (8hrs-9hrs max) and she'll usually still have a formula bottle in that time frame cuz its not enough for her

@mommyofmessiah-marie that's a lot for a 1 month old. That's waaaay to much actually. At 1 month their bellies are only able to handle 1oz. You're probably mistaking her hunger for pain. It's probably stretching her belly out. Are you already back to work? You should really keep her on breastmilk. The formula is harsh on her belly also so she's probably in pain.

@mommyofmessiah-marie it's not recommend until 3 months btw. She's 1 month. They only eat 1-2oz. If she breastfed or formula?

@drewandvaehsmommy I just feel like she's never full. A lot of older woman in my family have been saying to add a teaspoon of cereal to her milk. But I feel like she's too young

You should skip that step. It's not really healthy for babies and it's unsafe for them to have it through a bottle. Is there a reason you want to know?
