At how many months did you ladies start giving cereal with baby's milk?
@juliaschade41 both but mainly breast. If I'm at work and haven't left enough then dad has to give her formula
@mommyofmessiah-marie if she's breastfeed, it would make sense as to why she's always hungry. Breast milk doesn't have as many calories as formula does. I know this from experience cuz I tried breastfeeding for a little bit. She's much happier on formula. Just wish WIC provided the one she actually liked. But it does keep her happier longer.
@juliaschade41 she was 6'11.... I think she's just trying to catch up.... And I haven't given her cereal I just wanted to hear ppls views, pros and cons before I did
I wouldn't recommend cereal unless it was for reflux mama. I do think that's way too much for her in my opinion. Can you try pace feeding with extra burps in between? Maybe even a slower flowing nipple may help.
@juliaschade41 I think we had this conversation before lol. Yes all babies are different !! I'm not gonna starve my baby just because somebody else's baby eats less lol
@parismommmy that's too much every 3-4 hrs? I mean she's hungry I'm not gonna Not feed her you know
It could be a growth spurt. My daughter practically stayed on my boob while I was breastfeeding. I don’t agree with cereal in general but if you think it’s okay, I suggest wait until the baby is 6 months. And be given with a spoon. Their tummies are sensitive.
Just like the other ladies said. It’s not recommended at all to put cereal in a bottle (unless the doctor said so for reflux ). And it doesn’t actually keep them fuller or sleep longer. It’s empty calories. Your baby is too young still for cereal or anything beside formula or breast milk. And your baby should be eating 1-2 oz not 5-6 oz that’s way too much for their little tiny tummy
@mommyofmessiah-marie your body is just getting use to producing milk so it's takes a while to actually pump alot of bottles. Having her nurse will bring in more milk because their suck is better than a pump. Try pumping every 2 hours. It'll tell your boobs oh bbay wants to eat so make more.
@drewandvaehsmommy I don't believe all babies are the same. Her doctor hasn't said its bad. And Im pretty sure I know her hunger cries. And yes I'm back to work. ...i pump as much as I can but injustice don't get a lot . I try to leave two 5oz bottles everytime I'm gone (8hrs-9hrs max) and she'll usually still have a formula bottle in that time frame cuz its not enough for her
@mommyofmessiah-marie that's a lot for a 1 month old. That's waaaay to much actually. At 1 month their bellies are only able to handle 1oz. You're probably mistaking her hunger for pain. It's probably stretching her belly out. Are you already back to work? You should really keep her on breastmilk. The formula is harsh on her belly also so she's probably in pain.
@drewandvaehsmommy both. But mainly breast. She only has formula when dad has her if I haven't pumped enough. But she eats anywhere from 5-6oz every 3hrs.
@mommyofmessiah-marie it's not recommend until 3 months btw. She's 1 month. They only eat 1-2oz. If she breastfed or formula?
@drewandvaehsmommy I just feel like she's never full. A lot of older woman in my family have been saying to add a teaspoon of cereal to her milk. But I feel like she's too young
I tried it once at 4 months when we were trying to just start introducing cereal but my boy hates bottles so he wouldn't even sneeze at it.
We put it away after that and started spoon feeding cereal at 5m.
