I can't get him to latch right so it's REALLY painful to breastfeed. I think he has tummy problems and he's always crying and screaming. He has his days and nights mixed up and screams everytime I change him. I feel like I'm doing everything wrong! I said no paci and no formula and I've already done both. I feel like I'm failed and I can't fix it.😔

@dalliesmama I can't say much then cuz I formula feed and give the paci, and my daughter is fine with both. Everything has been going much more smoothly for us since we stopped breastfeeding, so I might not be the person you wanna talk too.

Its ok, have you tried a nipple shield, and the position you hold him in can help he sounds like he's gassy. You can give him gas meds and rub his tummy and do the bicycle motion. Also lay him only his belly and warm baths help. Don't give up mommy I know its hard but you got this one day at a time you haven't failed.

@chelli, I can't give him baths yet because he's only 4 days.😔 I want to badly because it always helps my tummy. I tried the nipple shield but my breasts are just so sore it causes me so much pain to feed

@dalliesmama well it doesnt always work for everyone. I wanted it to work for me too. But I wish you the best. And just remember if the baby is being fed, then it doesn't matter how.💖 you're still taking care of your child.

Also the football hold helps them latch better. Once you offer him your nipple and he opens his mouth bring his head to your nipple make sure he covering your nipple and some areola. Also get his doc to see if he has a tongue tie that makes them difficult to latch properly

Warm compress and hand express will take the pressure off and you can give him a bath don't submerge his belly in water

You can go in the bathroom and hold him in a towel and let the bathroom warm up some and sponge bathe him and rub his tummy so it kinda feels lije a warm bath and hold him close to your heart while you don't have a shirt on it a loose shirt and he only has a diaper. If it's cold just cover you both with blankets where only his head is out so he doesn't suffocate. Try giving him gas drops maybe he's just super gassy. My daughter when I brought her home always cried no Matter what so I know how your feeling ! I felt like I didn't know what to do for her but your his mother you know. Your motherly instincts are there you just have to listen and learn from him and you'll get the hang of what he needs. Did he get circumcised? Or has a diaper rash maybe that could be the reason why he screams when you change him but sone babies hate being changed. Do you have a wipe warmer? He may not like cold wipes on his butt. But try talking to a lactation consultant before giving up!

Oh and write all your questions and concerns down to ask the Dr today. I know I always have so many things to ask their Dr about and always forget about something

@twinmomma2b, I do have a wipe warmer. I take full advantage of it. But he won't even sleep unless we are holding him so we get NO sleep.😭he did get circumcised. It's healing really really well tho.😔

Try a nipple shield. My kids never latched ever. So I ended up just pumping

And get him on a routine that helps

And you can bathe him every day before his stump falls off just don't get it wet

I had extreme pain early on also. I started pumping and that definitely helped my nipples to heal and still keep my milk coming in. Breastfeeding isn't easy, don't be so hard on yourself. You got this mama @dalliesmama

I have to use a nipple shield and it makes a world of difference. Also, mine has reflux so He will cry and scream for a whole day. We started Gerber sooth probiotic drops and it helps a ton.
