So last night I had one of the biggest scares of my life ad a best friend. This post is about what happened to my best friend not me. Me and me and my baby boy are fine but the "what if had been me" thought literally never crossed my mind not even once. I was terrified that I was going to lose my best friend of 8 years and/or the baby boy she was carrying.

So... what happened was I was at work. I normally don't look at my phone while at work. I keep it turned off and in s drawer in a desk until the end of my shift because that's a rule where I work but I broke the rules for an unknown reason to find my phone blowing up with messages and phone calls from my best friend's mother telling me she was in an ambulance on her way to the hospital. Now one thing I know about my friend is that she would not call an ambulance of something not serious. Like if she had gone into labor she would have labored at her house until she could get a ride. She is a trooper and her first two boys were born naturally and unmediated. She knows how it works and Th ay water breaking usually means there's still till. So when I saw the word "ambulance" I knew something was bad wrong. I told her mom to call my work number which she did to tell me that my friend had called her in a panic saying she went to the bathroom, stood up, and blood started pouring out of her. She was 34 weeks pregnant. I immediately panicked. Was she alive? Did the baby make it? I hadn't quite formed my own emotional bond with the baby so I was more worried how she would handle it if she lost that baby but either way I knew I had to get to her as soon as possible. After I got off the phone with her mom I made arrangements for someone to keep my daughter overnight, all while still at work and then her husband called to tell me that they were both okay. Big sigh of relief. But I still needed to see for myself that she was okay. I managed to take off early and flew to the hospital as fast as I could. When I got there she was just waking up from being put under and till groggy but okay. She explained that she had had a placental abrupture which means the placenta had started to detach from the uterine wall putting both their lives in danger. The baby could have lost oxygen and she could have bled out. She told me that she wasn't at the hospital 5 minutes before they told her they had to operate "NOW" and began stripping her and put her under. I'm so glad they are okay and apparently this happens to only about 1% of pregnant women and usually only due to severe trauma. She had no trauma. It just happened. Baby is in the nicu and doing really well. She also had GD which ended being good because the baby came out weight 5 lbs 5 oz at 34 weeks because of it. He's breathing in his own and being monitored and she is recovering well. Scary situation but every one is okay

@birdknees79 I am so glad you made it. According to my friend there wasn't really any time to tell anyone anything. When they got to the hospital they never even put her in a room first she went straight to surgery. Her mom and I honestly believed she had lost the baby and I was panicking because I knew she needed me there. She had been my only friend and I need for 8 years. We are family now. I was terrified for her.

I'm soooo glad they're both okay. You don't hear of GD being a good thing too often, but I'm so glad he's a good weight. That's so scary.
