My 3 week old daughter is 5lbs 11 oz, is it normal that shes is only eating 1.5 oz per feeding?

My daughter weighed 5lbs 9 oz when we left the hospital at 2 days old and she was up a pound in 2 weeks drinking 2 oz every 2 hours like clock work

@melody_momof5, i use formula because with my son i was ebf and when i tried to get him off the breast it was so hard so i had to stop until he was 1yr 5 months. I dont want it to happen again but do to her being so small i think im going to ebf and see if it helps her gain more weight.

@melody_momof5, my daughter was on preemie clothes but she now just started using newborn because she's a little longer also. I breastfeed and formula.

@kambam, that's what i saw on the charts but then in another chart i saw that for her weight the amount she is eating is okay. I will have to ask her pediatrician just to make sure.

@km416, no the doctor wasn't worried. She actually lost 4oz during the 1st week but she said it was normal and that many babies loose weight the 1st week. Then when i went in for the 2 week check up she went from 5lbs 0oz to 5lbs 9 oz so they said she was fine.

Don’t force your baby! That is the perfect amount their bellies are very little

The doctot wasn't worried? My son at his 1 week appointment had went up a pound. Even my daughter when she was a new born they wanted her at a certain weight or they wanted me to supplement if she wasn't gaining enough. But if the doctor isn't worried you should be good. My daughter use to only eat 5 to 10 mins her first month from boob

At that age babies are usually drinking about 2oz every 2 or 3 hours. Sounds like she is gaining slow also? You can try to force some extra on her with a syringe because if she's sleepy she probably won't take the bottle.
