I need answers fast (thanks in advance) what formula should I buy my 3 week old baby (she has been losing weight and below her birth weight and is only 5 pounds 14oz and her birth weight was 6 pounds 😧😧😧😧😧 I have been exclusively breastfeeding but Dr is saying baby isn't getting enough milk and wants me to buy formula and feed her through a syringe (I'm at Walmart now)

@raisingabi that's what they want me to do supplement either with formula or pumped milk and also breastfeed on demand.
I went through the same thing. Nursing on demand is exhausting but it helped. I still had to supplement an ounce of formula after offering breast. I used Similac Total comfort. She gained 12 oz in 6 days
@kambam I hope so I have a appt with the lactation consultant in 1 hour so hopefully they will say no formula.

It's what I did. They push you for no reason tbh. She'll be ok until you get a pump.
@kambam i feel you i would rather not give her formula ...I see at lactation consultant at 3:30 today and my pump will be delivered today so hopefully the lactation consultant will tell me to just pump and I can return this formula

@fairyslaymother welcome and okay good. And dang. But yeah pump as well that should increase your supply too. Also eat really well that should help. I dried up bc I wasn't eating enough
Thank you and yes on demand...this is my first time breastfeeding and now I feel like my lactation consultants failed me because they told me my milk is fully there.
Try Gerber gentle. That might help but still pump and breast feed but give her formula if your not producing enough and she's still hungry
All mommas on birth control! what birth control are you using , I don't know what to choose after the baby is born. I've never really been on birth control. I definitely don't want anything that can cause complications, weight gain and mood swings! thanks in advance!!
Hey preggies! This is like a super nerd alert but I've found an equation developed and validated by researchers/OBs/mathematicians out of Duke Medical Center that predicts birth weight. Out of 87% of births, weight was predicted within 15% of actual birth weight- nearly the same accuracy as birth weight predicted via ultrasound. I just did the equation and if I had Baby D now, she'd weigh 6.46lbs!

@fairyslaymother definitely if you do that the breast first then pumped milk, I do that as well. If she's hungry still I offer formula but it's rare the last couple of days because I've been nursing on demand and haven't had to supplement because she acts full
