I feel so unsupported. I'm doing almost everything differently then the "norm". Family tells me that he needs to try a bottle. I'm not supported for breastfeeding in public. I told my mom and gma that we won't be going rice cereal cause it's empty calories and pretty much just packed with starch. I told them we won't be doing purees but baby led weaning instead and " don't do that to the poor little guy! " was the response. I don't think I'll be supported when he's past a year and I keep breastfeeding cause my mom has already given me transitioning formula for "when he doesn't want my milk anymore". They're acting like i should be giving him baby cereal now and feeding film purees soon. But like I'm not going to give him any food just cause he's a certain age! I'm going to give him food when his body tells me he's ready! Could be next month, could be 3 months from now. I don't feel I'll be supported when I continue to rear face him for longer than a year. My baby has been through so much medical problems and gets all of the rare diagnoses that I'm not chancing anything. I'm going by new and up to date rules cause if I can prevent him from having anything else medical happening I will. I research EVERYTHING before making our decision. Me and my husband worked 11 hard months to make this baby. I was in labor for 4 days. I pushed him out of my vagina. WE stayed in the nicu when he was in there. We did everything (with some help from the problems that happend). That means we make the decisions for this beautiful baby we made! I'm tired of not feeling supported by the people who are supposed to support me through everything! Thank God for my husband! Though it sucks it makes me appreciate him even more!
@mrs.sims, I wish I had advice for you, but I mostly just ignored them or said "well, he likes it" about whatever he was eating. I'm pretty non-confrontational and my family doesn't listen to anything I say anyways, so I don't really bother anymore. There are some great websites about the efficacy and benefits of BLW, though, so if you want a set of data to back your side up it totally exists. Just google "baby led weaning" and there's some great talking point out there.
@sarahmartinez817 what did you say back? I kind of just started ignoring them
@mrs.sims, Yeah, I meant BLW, sorry I wasn't super clear in that comment. And I totally get it, my mom was always making comments about what we fed him and it got really old really fast.
@sarahmartinez817 thank you! I think the one that bothers me the most is my Gma cause even when my parents weren't there for me she was. But oh well! I think blw is safer and more educational. If that's what you were referring to
That's so hard, I'm sorry they're acting like that. You make the decisions that are right for your kiddo and you're an awesome mom. If it helps at all, we made similar feeding decisions and our son is a super great eater now.
Thanks! I kind of just ignore it lol were going to do these things with or without their support. It would just be nice to have it
It's not up to them how you raise your child. You're doing your best and that's how parenthood works!! You have support here!
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
i'm getting my baby circumcised tomorrow & it makes me so sad. i want to do it but i don't want to see him hurting :( makes me cry every time i think about it
Birth Plan Rant
I used to be all about getting an epidural, but after research and thinking about it more I want to have an unmedicated birth (this is my first baby). What annoys me is when I say that I'm going to TRY my hardest to have a natural and unmedicated birth people always feel the need to say that I'm crazy or that I'm going to change my mind when I get in that position. Or that epidurals are the best. I do realize that plans change, but why can't people be supportive and encouraging?
When people tell me not to worry and I'm standing here pregnant as hell and worrying about everything... Just cause ya tell me not to doesn't mean it's going to change that I worry about literally everything.
Trigger. Lost baby
Went in for my 20 week check up and found out our son had passed away. Nothing was wrong, my pregnancy has been going great. I'm so numb right now. I'll he delivering him later this week. I don't want to do this. I don't want to do this. Not before Christmas. How am I'm going to tell my kids?? My dear sweet baby boy. Why did this happen?
Do what's best for you and your son no one can tell you what to do when it comes to your son.... And my kids are 1month 2years old and 5 years old my 2 year old is a rear facing car seat and my 5 year old just got out of his and into a booster seat. So do what you think is best❤
