What are your feelings on time outs? Do they really work if it's consistent, how long should they sit for, things like that. My son is starting to get in his tantrum stage an he's been trying to hit, bite, throws things, the whole 9 yards now. I've tried smacking his hand when he hits but he just hits back so that's pointless and not teaching him a thing in my opinion.
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?
What kind of sick person does this? My ex is making accusations about me that I hit my son with a belt. I posted about my concern that his grandpa is using a belt or the threat of a belt around him. I never accused anyone, I simply wanted an explanation as to why he got hitting with a belt was a thing The first thing my ex does is call his lawyer to protect his dad and claim I'M hitting him with a belt. I don't even spank! Can't he get into trouble for making false allegations? That is so awful
Had the worst day! Bumped into my ex and he held me down while his sister hit me.
How do you punish a 3 year old to stop hitting mama when he cant get his way ?
My son’s new thing is to throw EVERYTHING he gets his hands on in the sink 🙄 why?

My daughter gets 2 minute time outs for bad behavior (she's 2) and it's to the point now as soon as I say "I'm going to count to 3, if I get to 3 it's timeout" she immediately stops and says "I sorry I stop!" And listens. After her timeouts I let her calm down for a minute then we talk about what happened, why she was in trouble, that she has to listen etc. I make sure she understands then make her apologize to me or whoever she needs to apologize to and she doesn't get toys or anything back until she's apologized

I believe that timeouts should not be a form of punishment, but a way to teach your child how to calm themselves down. My son is almost 20 months old, so he's still a little too young to understand.. but when we do start doing time outs, we will have a box beside the bench with books, coloring books, crayons, etc.

@keepingupwithhj I have similar thoughts about that. I had him sit in a seat today after throwing something across the room and hitting his cousin with it. He sat for like 3 minutes just fine then started getting antsy. I'm not for all the hitting either. We've tried smacking his butt and hand and he just wanted to hit back and thought it was funny. My attempt at time out today seemed to work though. I think he knew he was in trouble but was confused as to why he had to sit down.
