Question, especially for those due November/December... I am due December 3. Husband is a driver for UPS, so we can't make plans on Christmas Eve. We have Mass Christmas day. But we still need to see his family and my family. I don't like the idea of going alone, but also think having a newborn out all day is a terrible idea. Plus we would be driving a total of 3 hours (our parents live over an hour from each other). What are you guys planning to do?

I'd offer to have a smaller Christmas (maybe at New Years) at your house where you can put the baby down in a comfortable place, less people less germs... have people chip in to order pizzas instead of cooking, and/or have family bring desserts and drinks! You can always Video chat with them on Christmas Day, I'm sure someone will have Facebook and a smart phone!

I'm due 11/25 and am not traveling for the holidays. I don't want to risk my baby getting sick in cold/flu season. Our family is really understanding and will be coming to visit us, a couple at a time, in the months after she's born to help out.

@dallasnh12 yep I understand completely. I live in Tennesse. Even though my baby is 7 weeks 2 hours is my max anywhere

I think if baby gets fussy or overwhelmed we'll just head home.

Yeah. Under a month. I live in Georgia so usually Christmas is warm enough but you know sick people never stay home.

@athomas yeah I think we'll have to bite the bullet. I really don't want to offend anyone.

We had our baby on Halloween, she was due In November tho. But we didn't take her to Thanksgiving. Too many people and too many germs for not even a one month old for us to be comfortable with. For Christmas we took her to two dinners and had one at our house . But we didn't have her go to more than one a day because she seemed to get pretty overwhelmed with all the people, noise and commotion.

I'm worried about having people here. There's the stress of hosting in general, but I also have reason to not want certain people in my house right now (they have a bug problem and I don't want it coming here..)

I'm having a Nov baby .. & I haven't even thought about going out for thanksgiving. Christmas is usually at my house so no problem there. You have seriously made me start thinking about that . Thanks for this post
