Hi mamas

I have a 7 month old EBF son. Introduced solids at 4 months. Started with rice cereal, then veggies, fruit, etc. The day after his first (non cereal solid), he started spitting up everything he ate after the second spoon of food. Milk, food, anything. It's just getting worse each time I try and feed him. The GI is running all sorts of tests but wants to admit him to hospital if his weight gain isn't enough by the next appt.

Any other mamas had a problem like this?

His GI and pediatrician both told me to start at 4 months to help with the weight gain since he was already low on the weight due to spitting up from an (undiagnosed at the time) acid reflux

He's only got less than 2 weeks to gain some weight before being admitted. The vomit comes up after the second spoon if ANY food at all. I have tried giving him various solids to help me gain weight but he ends up puking more than he's taking in.

I'd suggest not giving any solids & doing gut rest for a couple months before trying anything else. Seeing an allergist really helped us figure out what foods to avoid & where to start with food trials.

I agree with @arivera64, solids should not be introduced until 6 months. They aren't ready yet hunn...and even then it isn't really necessary.

Maybe he wasn't ready. Foods aren't recommended until 6 months. They aren't necessary until after a year. Cereal isn't recommended at all. If it's getting worse, stop the solids until his body can recover
