Hi my name is tamaron I have 3 kids akasha she is 10 grace she is 6 and my son damien and he is 3. My husband works 2nd shift so it's usually just me and the kids at home. One question I do have is how do you get a child with add to pay enough attention to try and explain something to them, my 6yr old daughter grace has this problem where she just won't listen to anything I say. They came home from state custody dec.22nd and she has been a real jerk since last month nothing has changed since they have came home so I don't understand why she's acting like this she gets "Mommy time" every day. Anyone have any advice for me???

@tamrynstephens research Concerta. It was the best option for us. It's a slow release.

Which meds was she on? We have my little man on Concerta. When he first started taking it, he lost his appetite, but he still ate here and there. The doc said that was normal. About a month in, he had his big appetite back.

Yeah my daughter and your step son sound alike, they had her on mess but she wouldn't eat and wasn't eating so we took her off of it I am thinking about putting her back on them. She wasn't getting in as much trouble as she is now when she was on them but like I said she wasn't eating. I'd what to do

Well she is probably acting out as she was just released from state custody. That really messes with kids. My stepson went through that. He was a handful and a half when we got custody of him from his mother's actions that lead him to be almost awarded to the state of Arizona. We had him evaluated for ADHD and he has it. He also has ODD. He is on medication now and it's been a 180 for his attitude. He's a striving young man, who loves to read, math is his thing and he wants to learn how to make video games. It's a adjustment period for sure. You need to have patience. Taking things away did absolutely nothing for his behavior, nor did just about any other kind of punishment. So it's a personal thing. Kids are all different in how they handle things. ADD is a hard thing to understand and deal with. Even for grown adults.

I've done the swat on the button she doesn't seem like she cares I also have done the stay in your room all day and made her not do things the other kids were doing. They only get 30 mins of electronics a day of what ever it may be so I might just try that one ty for the advice I Will try taking away the electronics

@tamrynstephens take her things away and dont let her watch tv. A swat or two might work but it just depends on how you do dicipline.

She is probably still adjusting being back home. Dont beat yourself up though cause kids can be a little mean sometimes. My neice has a mouth on her and is very blunt with her words lol
