So after a horrible evening.....it continued thru the night. The dog was tripping out all night (he has dementia)! I got no sleep. Then I woke the kids up for school, sent my oldest to brush his teeth only to find my 5yr old crying in pain because of his ear (he has an infection). Obvi I can't send him to school like that, so now they're missing another day! One reason I miss homeschooling is that my kids won't get penalized for their attendance because they're sick. With that said, now the whole house is awake and I could have left everybody sleeping. Fml. I'm already not a morning person as it is. When I get no sleep, I'm really not a morning person.

I'm so happy I stumbled upon this post, I'm actually in the middle of building a classroom for my son and turning our guest room into a playroom for my daycare so I can re-open, I'd love to get some pointers from you in the future @arivera64, my son is only 9 months right now so I still have a little while to go, but I'm collecting curriculum for all ages and plan to have learning time with the daycare kids aswell.
@bria we're getting a guinea pig after our vacation in july. Lol. I already got the cage, food, etc

@bria yeah. We have a 3rd room that we don't use so i just transformed it. Even had a class pet lol
That's awesome !!! I would def do a similar set up. I would probably end up turning my dining room into a classroom type thing and just keep the dining set in there

@bria you know what's best for her education. The great part is that neither choice has to be permanent
@arivera64, I also feel the schools by us here don't keep up with the elementary I went to. Which was a talented and gifted school and you had to be tested to get in. I was so smart as a kid !! I really could have benefitted from homeschooling. I would've finished school 2-3 years early for sure
@arivera64, yeah I can see that. It's def a job in itself no doubt but I feel like it's worth it.
@bria you can do it. It's easy when they're doing pre k, kindergarten and even 1st. But once they need more difficult work it takes more time to make sure they're learning what they need to be learning.
@arivera64, yeah I understand completely. That's a reason why I want to have all my research done. Need to make the best decision and yeah I can see how the extra curricular stuff adds up considering you kinda have to since ur homeschooling. I'm hoping to get it planned out enough
@sawyersmom no. You have the option to request testing etc for your own records to make sure your child is on track. However it isn't mandated
@bria i don't blame you. I did it for two years but eventually I started to feel like i wasn't providing them with enough. With the baby coming, there was a lot going on and it wasn't fair to them. I wanted them to go make friends without having to pay for an extracurricular activity. I had them in karate when we homeschooled but the time of the class clashed with my husbands work hours. With 1 car it was too difficult. And it was 240 every 3 months so i couldn't afford it once i stopped working.
@arivera64, wow that's awesome to know. I'm really considering it. I don't wanna send her to school until she's older honestly.
@bria you don't have to by law. But it's good to let the district know that you'll be doing homeschooling just to be on record in case you decide to switch to public school. Keep records of the work so if you do switch they send her to the appropriate grade. The only time you have to report homeschooling here is if they were already in public school and you take them out to start homeschooling
@arivera64, wow really ?? That's awesome. I saw it somewhere once in CT if you wanted to buy the same one schools follow it's only like 200 for the year. Which is way less than I thought. Do you have to register for it ?

Ugh same here soooo not a morning person lol. I hope he gets better 😫😫😫😫 they're the worst I had serious problems with them as a baby and child.. I'm also looking into homeschooling my girl and any more kids I have ... for many reasons lol
