So I have the mirena and my first period after getting it inserted lasted like a whole month then I didn't have a second one and now I'm on my third and it's lasted 2 weeks and doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon. Is this normal or can I get anything done about it?
@alipaige6399, You are most definitely NOT crazy! Don't stress too much about the hair loss right now. As you are only 4 months postpartum it is most likely due to your hormones. It basically means your hair wasn't growing new hair strands during pregnancy and now old hairs are falling out as new ones grow in. Its super annoying, but very common. I have lost SO much hair PP but it wasn't the same as my hair loss with the mirena. I had a bald spot of the back of my head that was the shape of about a fifty cent piece! It was isolated, almost a circle shape, with hair growing around it. I actually had hairs start growing like the day after I got it removed, like random ones in the middle of the spot. 😅 It is a side effect that the no longer mention from my understanding!
@rebeccathomas06, so I'm not crazy? Lol my hair is falling out to! My hair is super super thick and has always fallen out to an extent like if I kept it put up a lot it would come out when I got in the shower or when I brushed it I thought this was maybe where I had a baby it just made it worse but now that I see it happened to someone else I don't feel stupid. My doctor said NO side effects.
When I had the mirena I bled for like 2 months straight, then had one light period, and then nothing for 4 years. I had to have it removed early because it was making my hair fall out.
When I first got my Mirena I spotted for a little and barely got my period the whole four years. Just spotted every month. But I know for some people the get very heaven periods.
