I don't know why and I wish I could explain it but sometimes I just get so depressed, I've struggled with this my whole life and I always feel worse now because my husband, as wonderful as he is, tries so hard to make me smile and get me out of my mood but it doesn't always work and when it doesn't work he gets upset because he doesn't know how to help me. I feel so horrible sometimes that I think maybe I should just end things with him so he doesn't have to worry about me. But I don't have it in my heart to give up on my family. As much as I think I'm tired of life I just want to quit I would never want to hurt my son like that. Does anyone else go through this and how do you cope? I've been trying to find books and blogs and things to help get around this and pull myself together. So any suggestions would be really appreciated

I go through this too. There are many times I feel like giving up, and there are a few times that I really have. Therapy works for some people, as do antidepressants. Depression makes you feel like you're worthless, like everyone would be better off without you. It makes you isolate yourself. And I know it's hard to believe, but none of it is true! Your family loves and cares about you. They need you. If you were to give up, they would be heartbroken. They would feel lost. Try to find time everyday to do something you enjoy, or that used to make you feel good. I like to go outside, whether while my daughter is napping or I bring her with me, and just sit in the sunshine or watch the clouds or the rain. It's been proven that being outside makes people feel better, even just for that little bit. Take yourself out on a date if you're able to, and just have some alone time. Depression is different for everyone, but for me personally, medication and therapy don't work. I just take it as it comes and try to remind myself that the things my mind is telling me aren't true, and that the chemicals in my brain are just imbalanced. I try and find little things to be happy about each day, even if I'm having a horrible day. But take it all one day at a time, one step at a time. If today's a bad day, there's always a chance tomorrow will be a great day. Try and find little things that make you happy throughout the day, whether it be your son laughing, or a good meal, or finally getting the chance to catch up on your favorite show.

@scurlock.mommy, unfortunately therapy and pills never worked for me either. I just hate the fact that some days I'm okay and happy and then all of a sudden it just hits me and it gets in the way of me getting what I need to get done. And then I have anxiety attacks that make it worse. I've been trying bullet journaling which has helped a little it's just hard to stay on top of all the time.
I know I could never do anything to myself now, when I was younger I had problems cutting but I use my son as my safe haven when I want to turn to stuff like that now. He saved me in more ways then he'll ever understand and he continues to save me. I just need to find better ways to get out of my "funks" that I get in because while he's young now and doesn't understand I don't want to be like that when he gets older.
On another note thank you for your kind words and advice.

When i get in one of those modes he knows to just give me space and time. It could be a day it could be a week or a month...so space is what works for us...
