Ok so over this long weekend I barely pumped but breastfed my baby all weekend long. But when I do decide to pump I barely get anything. Can someone please tell me why?? And provide me with some HELP PLEASE!!!! Thx in Advance.
I am trying hand expression but I suck at it. I don't think that I am doing it right. But I am massaging while pumping and I have gotten more that way @cubanese @acrg28
If your breast shields are too big or small you will not express correctly. Sometimes suction can be to strong or not enough. Massaging your breasts before pumping is a big help. I always preferred my hand pump because it worked so well. I would use a hand pump after electric pump just to be sure I was empty. Also like someone mentioned, pump one side while you're feeding and pump after to make sure you are empty. It tricks your boy into thinking your baby needs more.
@junesmommy_15 @cubanese I'm just at my wits end. Totally fustrated, baby doesn't like formula but I'm not producing enough to have to relaxed all day at daycare. I just want to be able to pump enough for my baby to be happy while I'm away
Maybe not. You'll get a lot of info from the moms in the group. Plenty of of us have gone through it so I am telling you this is something so common especially around your child's age. It is normal for us to worry though so I understand.
do you pump in addition to nursing normally? Two things can be going on, one your milk supply can be decreased if you aren't feeding/ pumping as much or the signals given by your babies saliva is triggering your milk to come out the most while nursing and it's only giving enough to fill the baby. I never get a lot if I pump unless my son doesn't eat and I pump to prevent engorging then I get a lot. To get your supply back up you can try Gatorade, lots of water , etc. and then alternate pumping and nursing to build your supply back up. Good luck mama!
