Sugar water for a 2 month old?
My mother in law keeps telling me to give my son sugar water because hes gassy. And i said hes gonna be gassy cause hes formula fed through a bottle. So anyways she gave him 4 oz of sugar water without telling me then a couple days later i walk in the bathroom and shes going through the cabinet looking for gas drops for him. Also she tells me i spoil him cause i hold him to much and she says i need to let him cry it out. She literally came up to me while i was holding him and said oh let me see the baby so i did and she went and layed him on his stomach on her bed.
*Am i being over protective of him or is she right?
Ugh mother in laws😒 I hope things get better for you. Have you tried moving the baby's legs like they are on a bike? That was our go to move.
If she wants to be helpful there is a colic hold she can google, but he's too young to be crying it out, you can't spoil a baby that little
I would definitely try gripe water. The other concern with a whole 4 oz of sugar water is water toxicity. Babies 6 months of age are recommended 2 oz or less WITH solids so it seems like you really need to set her straight. She needs to respect your choices
I wouldn't advise sugar water. Especially since the baby is only two months old. But you do whatever you feel is best for your baby. ☺️
One thing that helps baby with gas is to gently grab baby by the ankles very securely and then bend gently inward towards babys belly applying a very gentle amount of pressure. Gets all the gas out. I do it all the time. Works wonders.
@britt16 lol if it helps then thats cool. But my son has blood sugar issues. It could mess with his blood sugar. And also i would much rather have my pediatrician tell me to give it to him than my mother in law lol
Sugar water actually does help. My pediatrician told me to give it to my daughter when she was gassy or constipated.
@kellyt23 thank you. I have said so before to my mom and she always says well back in the day they didnt have drs like they do now
@mcrowell0970 i dont wanna be mean but at the same time she needs to know! I wanna say something about it to my fiance but i dont want him upset. Plus theres not much he can do hes never around us
Babies tummys can't handle sugar.. Do not take advice from anyone about your baby that haven't had a baby recently unless they are a Dr... So many things have changed since our parents had babies. You're the mom so you need to lay down the law for the sake of your baby
I can't remember exactly.. haven't used it since he was like 6 months or so, but it should say on the bottle!
@hrkuzara thank you. I will definitely try it! How much do you give them
My MIL is the same way, so I feel your pain momma! My son was formula fed, and we gave him gripe water when he seemed to be in pain and it helped!
@mcrowell0970 i wanted to so bad. But she said she did it with all of her kids!!!
No. I havent tried anything. Hes honestly not that gassy. I mean he is when hes pooping but thats about it.. I dont wanna give him amything that will hurt him. All he gets is formula
@littleonesmommy98 dont give him sugar water... have you tried gripe water?
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
Ok, so my friend is wanting to get pregnant but..... Her fiancé does not want kids, at lease for another 3-5 years he said... so she came up with the idea to have me pee on a stick for her and show it to him so that he’ll be comfortable with not wearing a condom and finishing in her.. basically the whole idea is to make him think she’s pregnant already...... so I do this favor for her or should I tell my girl to chill?
He and my husband are friends through us and he’s going to invite him over...
EDIT : this post is very long.
I need to rant really quick and I am expecting honest answers from some mamas on here! Tell me if I’m wrong. Couple months ago my boyfriend got into an accident and went through a coma, was in a rehab center and for weeks. I was only with him for the first 3 days of him being in the hospital cause him mom kicked me out and didn’t let me see him for months. When he woke up from his coma she lied to me told me that he didn’t remember me or his daughter! When she fo...
So, I have this friend. She has a boyfriend and they have been together for over 5 years. they are both very good friends of mine. While he works nights to support her, she is sleeping around and hiding it from him. She told this to me but told me not to tell. My question is, would you tell him what shes doing? Or would you just leave it alone and let him find out himself... I'm worried that if I tell him he won't believe me and that I would be stepping in a situation that isn't my business. But...
So over this feeling!
Ever since I've had ds, OH and I have fought my mother on not wanting to give ds a dummy just cause we don't like them and find he self soothes. For the past three times my mother has had him, she has gone against our rule and given him a dummy and of course I spoke to her about it (that's all my knowledge on how many times she's done it). On Sunday we celebrated my stepfathers birthday and due to OH working I had to do it alone which isn't the thing that bothered me. The...
@panny_cake i do all the time anyways to strengthen his leg muscles
