Is it safe to give newborns water? My midwife has already told me no. And my a lady from healthy start has told me a story where a women diluted formula with water and it sent the baby to the hospital. But my mom swears just because my midwife isn't a doctor she doesn't know anything. So I decided to ask you guys who has had babies sooner than the last 25 years lol
No do not. It can lead to water intoxication. Baby could even die from it. There's no reason for an infant to have water except for mixing formula. Formula and breastmilk is mostly water anyway. The earliest you can start giving water is 6 months and it's more or less just sips. Water will leave them feeling full but they got 0 nutrition from it. They need the calories of milk.
No
